I went There many times. Price is gd but i need to go there twice to get what i want. English speaking makes it even harder to communicate n getting an. expected hair cut. When i told i didn’t get my desired look some stafs were rude. A professional did my hair relly wrong i went a student to get it fixed. N the professional was very upset at me. I don’t wan to go bk.

Wow!

Called in a week in advance to make a reservation, and was offered a slot the day off or a week later. Decided it wasn’t worth getting out of bed at 9AM to rush to the middle of no where for a haircut and went with the spot next week. At first i was a little worried about the language barrier, and alas when i got there i was greeted by a student who could only speak french. However with my basic highschool french education and some pictures i had brought with me, i was able to communicate what i wanted(kinda). Started off with a hair wash and a head massage, then the girl who was supposed to cut my hair brought her instructor over, presumably(from what i could make out of their rapid speech) because she had no idea how to do the cut i wanted. I then had my hair cut by the instructor herself who did it almost exactly as i asked. The back was a bit short for my liking by i’ll let it slide since i wasn’t exactly about to tell them i didn’t want anything shorter than my shoulders. After the haircut which took about twenty minutes, the student who was supposed to cut my hair spent forty minutes giving me an amazing blow out and style. After shes done the instructor wanders over and declares«cet coiffure est parfait pour tu»(i think, something along those lines) At this point i’m mentally calculating how much the expenses are going to be since a teacher cut is double the price and blowouts are even more. I decide that the service i’ve received is totally worth the $ 40 they’re probably going to charge me, however when i get to the cash register i’m presented with a total of $ 9.80 taxes included and i almost die of disbelief. Quickly shovelling over all the cash i had in my wallet i left the store hoping they wouldn’t call me back and tell me there was a mistake. Went home feeling like a queen. I will never get my hair cut anywhere else this place is the absolute bomb.

My first haircut en français was a success! Tornade offers $ 7 for a cut and $ 12 for cut and style(mise en plis) by their student hairdressers. No worries, the teacher is in the room the whole time, and will sometimes take over to demonstrate a technique or to check the work. My student hairdresser was meticulous and careful and I left with a good cut and beautiful curls. My test for a good cut is whether it still looks good after I’ve washed it myself at home. I’m a low-maintenance gal! And yes, it still looks good. Phone ahead for an appointment — I called on Thursday afternoon for an appointment«next week» and was offered a spot on Monday afternoon. The school(like most) is closed on weekends but they do have some evening spots. Some locations(this one included) have a professional salon attached where graduates can earn a chair, and this salon is open weekends. Leave yourself lots of time. The hairdressers are still learning so a bit of patience is required. You get a head massage while your hair is being washed so this may help get you in a relaxed and patient mood! The school offers its courses in French only so if you are a unilingual anglophone you might have difficulty(though of course this is Montréal so many of the students speak English anyway). Yes, I’ll be back.
