The Man With His Van

We’ve always been a fan of supporting small businesses and going with the little guy when we have the option. So recently, we hired these guys to help us move since they seemed witty and pretty genuine.
What a mistake!
Bottom line: they were not careful with our things and caused hundreds of dollars in damage.
We discovered quite a few damaged boxed but the coup de resistance was a smashed 40″ television. When we called to point this out they said «too bad» and that it’s all part of the risk of hiring movers!
When we tried to argue with them they had the audacity to suggest that we smashed our TV before the move and planned to frame the movers for damage all along! As a final word of warning against us, they said that if we try to take them to small claims court it would be their word versus ours and there are more of them than us so good luck!
When we dug a little deeper, it became clear that these guys are neither a legitimate business nor are they insured — which means when they damage something, they wash their hands and walk! Plus, we noticed that in the fine print of their contract they claim that they are not responsible for damages — in particular televisions, which suggests that they have a track record of breaking electronics.
If you value your things, don’t hire these guys. Get some reputable movers.
