In Montréal, bagels sell themselves. The question isn’t whether you should buy them, but rather where to buy them. Fairmount? St Viateur? Any of the other hundred bagel shops in Montréal? Sure, you probably won’t go wrong at any of them. However, REAL Bagel on Decarie deserves a special mention. Above all, I go to REAL Bagel because of their customer service. I am greeted with a «Hello» the moment I step in the store, the staff are always courteous, and the owners go out of their way to make sure I leave happy. There is a certain fundamental way to conduct yourself as a small business owner, and these guys have it down pat. Try it for yourself! Alright, alright, I know you want more juice on the products. They may not have the newest rainbow bagel yet, but they do have many other flavors you must try. Not feeling adventurous? No problem. Stick with the standard sesame or poppy seed. No matter what you choose, you’ll be guaranteed a fresh and delicious bite every time. Also, don’t hesitate to try their ready-made goods. They’ve got it all. From sandwiches to salads to chicken schnitzel, stop in for a quick fix or pick up lunch on your way to work. A few suggestions: 1) Bagels are often bagged right away, making the day-old bagels feel just as fresh as the bagels you’d get mid-day. The bagels freeze really well and you can toast them straight from the freezer. At half the price, day-old bagels are a no-brainer. 2) You know how I know these guys care? When I ask for a karnatzel, they respond, «More or less dry?» Knowledge is power! … oh, ya, buy the karnatzel! 3) If you’re not scared of a little heat in your life, ask them for half spicy /half regular tuna. Slap that on a toasted sesame bagel and your taste buds will be forever indebted to you… and me! Enjoy!

Nice little bagel spot with great sandwiches, salads, latkes, chopped liver, cheeses… basically anything you’re craving. Oh, and obviously, tons of bagels. Friendly staff, fast service and a clean shop. Definitely worth a stop in if you’re craving something quick and delicious.
