Pay It Forward Party at Frank & Oak!

L’événement était super ! Je connaissais déjà Frank & Oak, ayant «découvert» par hasard leur boutique sur St-​Viateur en allant au café Névé, mais cette succursale sur Stanley est beaucoup plus spacieuse ! Au cours de l’événement, j’ai eu l’occasion de visiter la boutique en compagnie d’un styliste (Arkadi, vraiment attentionné !) qui m’a donné de judicieux conseils et un bel aperçu des services et produits disponibles en boutique (et en ligne). Dès notre entrée, on peut prendre un petit café à siroter pendant notre séance de magasinage. Il y a aussi un barbier au 2e étage. Leur Hunt Club me semble un service vraiment intéressant: pour 20 $ par an, on peut recevoir des vêtements à essayer chez soi. On né paye que ce qui nous plaît et le reste peut être retourné sans frais ! Les vêtements sont à bon prix et de belle qualité. C’est vraiment un lieu qui mérite d’être découvert. I was introduced to the Frank & Oak brand about a year ago, by a friend. However, not being a dude myself, I never really felt a pressing need to check these guys out until this event.
First, I love that F&O are a local brand. Second, I like that they incorporate other local brands into their concept — think Nevé and Cherc’s, for example. Now let’s get down to business. The space is spread out onto three floors; on the main floor, you’ll find some awesome quality clothing and the café. Next up, the barber shop on the 2^nd floor — I think there might be some clothes up there too, but I was distracted by all the beards around me so can’t say for sure. Finally, the 3^rd floor is where the fellows can try on their gear and get more personalized service such as the help of a stylist. The shop is simple but cool, urban, most definitely hipster-​inspired. It’s basically a one-​stop shop for the guys, in the downtown core, something that was lacking.
The F&O guys were super friendly, the DJ kicked ass, and the food was damn good! I went back for like, five helpings of ‘seconds.’ Hey don’t judge! Grilled cheese. Mmmmm. Anyway, we also got to try some mulled wine and the barista was ready to whip up your coffee of choice, on demand.
I’m pretty sure I’ll pop in for a quick coffee once in a while. OK, maybe be it’ll be for the eye candy…

Firstly, I am HUGE fan of Frank & Oak since the beginning when they were subscription only. I signed up with my brother’s name for email newsletters. Nobody I know wears Frank & Oak, you know why? Because no man I know is stylish enough to care.
If I can support our Canadian brand in any way, I would. I love the idea behind the company, I love the clothes they make. So when Unilocal partnered up with Frank & Oak, I was beyond happy! But wait a minute, I still don’t know any man stylish enough to care!!! (even though I talk about you all the time!!!)
Then it occurred to me that my Belgium classmate receives compliments about his style EVERYWHERE he goes. I signed him up as my +1 and OMG did we have an amazing time.
The store is fabulous!!! THREE FLOORS, you must be kidding me!!! This is unreal! Most delicious sandwiches ever, I had seconds! In fact I had four «seconds!» The warm wine upstairs is delicious. I also had seconds.
Staff is courteous. So fantastic. And WOW thank you so much for the generosity with donations!!! What a beautiful idea and just in time for Christmas! Even though I moved recently with little precious clothing, I managed to find something to donate. Again if I can support this lovely Canadian brand in any way, I would! I’m super proud of you.

L’événement était super! Belle ambiance et le personnel est tellement ”chill”! Je né connaissais pas cette boutique avant de participer à cet événement et je suis ravis à l’idée d’avoir ce type de commerce à Montréal. J’y ai trouvé un polo vraiment chouette à un prix bien abordable. Francesca a été très serviable et patiente.

The event was so cool! Nice atmosphere and the staff is so ” chill ”! I didn’t knew this store before participating to the event and I am glad to have this type of business in Montréal. I found a really nice polo at a very affordable price. Francesca was very helpful and patient.

Frank & Oak est une jeune compagnie montréalaise en pleine expansion. Cette nouvelle boutique en est la preuve. Trois étages de vêtements pour homme de qualité, des accessoires et des produits pour le corps, un barbier, un bar à café Névé, tout est conçu afin de rendre l’expérience de magasinage plus agréable pour ces messieurs hipsters. Tant mieux, car personnellement, je trouve qu’il n’y a pas grand choix en guénille pour le sexe opposé!
Le party? Super sympa, ambiance très relaxe, j’ai beaucoup parlé avec les employés – employées (très gentils et gentilles, en passant!) Au troisième, il y a ce salon hyper confortable, comme à la maison, avec de bons fauteuils. Très populaire auprès de la gente de Unilocal!Au deuxième, il y avait de la musique avec deux DJ endiablés et des gars qui se faisaient faire la barbe ou le toupet par les coiffeurs de la place. Zut! Ça avait l’air tellement bon que je regrette de né pas avoir de poil au menton. Les gars, c’est un must à essayer! Finalement, au premier, il y avait de bonnes bouchées de sandwiches. Coup de coeur pour le grilled – cheese et le banh mi! Miam! Un photomaton était également à notre disposition. J’espère qu’ils le garderont, car c’est amusant se faire tirer le portrait et l’envoyer par courriel! Bonne idée! Vin chaud et bières locales de Saint – Ambroise et Mc Lauslan nous ont rincé le gorgotton. J’ai terminé la soirée en beauté avec un café latte pour adulte (aka avec de la boisson Sortilège, une crème au whisky et sirop d’érable). À boire entre grands quand les enfant sont couchés…

I’ve never been to Frank & Oak before, but I’ve seen the name and I was curious, so when I saw Unilocal was hosting an event for the new store launch I was very excited. This is also my first official Elite event, double yay!
I’m keeping the focus of the review on the event, but there will be some overlap with regard to impressions of the store.
Firstly, I really liked the store itself. Being on Stanley between de Maisonneuve and Sainte Catherine, you’re already in a difficult position if you drive, because parking is in short supply, and construction has cut down the number of spots even more. The inside of the store makes it worthwhile, it’s really beautiful, and it was a great location for a Unilocal event.
I really liked the clothing donation aspect as well. Frank & Oak are starting a program where they will match clothing donations, so we were all encouraged to bring coats, sweaters, and socks! It really made me feel included, and allowed me to give something back, which you know, gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
It was great to see other fellow Unilocalers and meet new people, I always love the Unilocal community spirit!
The food and drinks were very nice too, I haven’t had a maple cream in a really long time. It was also nice to have a few vegetarian options (mind you, for all that I love grilled cheese sandwiches, a few vegetables would be nice too).
