Misto

Nous y sommes allés lors de l’événement Montréal à table au mois d’octobre.
Nous avions beaucoup d’attente car le menu proposé était alléchant mais finalement les plats manquaient de finesse et d’assaisonnement.
Il y a aussi eu quelques loupés dans le service (le parmesan râpé né nous a pas été proposé alors que nous avions des pâtes à notre table).
L’ambiance est très bruyante (musique + beaucoup de monde), ce qui a rendu l’appréciation du repas difficile.
Bref, le menu proposé pour l’événement n’était peut-​être pas à la hauteur de la qualité habituelle mais je n’y retournerais pas.

Casual Italian bistro, good wine list.
The chicken carbonara was so good! Was hesitant of egg on top, but made sauce even creamier. Husband had the veggie pizza and added chicken. The crust was the perfect crisp/​soft combo, and the tomatoes were super fresh!

Good service and great food. The food seemed really authentic and was very enjoyable. I stopped in on a Thursday and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely go here again!

What a fun dinner.
The waiter was super energetic & welcoming and the bar-​lady was very attentive and helpful.
Our food was tasty, with the small exception of my pasta dish (shrimp linguini) being slightly on the bland side, salt was needed, but I won’t scrap a star for that since there’s salt at the table and I did really love my starter (beef carpaccio).
My husband’s wild mushroom risotto was amazing.
We ended with a panna cotta that was on a special temporary menu, YUM, I really hope they add that one to their everyday menu!

A trendy Italian restaurant that opens out onto the street via large windows (sans panes), Misto is romantic, it’s reasonably-​priced, and the food is innovative without stretching too far from the traditional.
We started out with fresh bread and oil/​vinaigrette, as well as a variety of cocktails: a gin Caesar, a Piscine Italienne (Prosecco, Campari, and red grapefruit juice), and a Le Roi, La Reine (cava brut reserve segura viudas, port, and orange zest).
Our entrées consisted of a variety of perfectly-​cooked pastas and delectable meats. The Duck Confit Orecciettei held the most succulent pieces of duck amongst a light but beautiful pasta sauce, the Mushroom Ravioli with Gorgonzola Sauce was unbelievably creamy and decadent, and the Braised Lamb Shank in Miso and Roquefort Sauce was so tender it fell off the bone at the touch of a fork (and also went very well with a glass of the 2010 Valpolicella Classico).
The server took care of our every need and we were never left wanting. The restaurant was relatively quiet when we sat down, but the service didn’t reflect this. It’s a difficult conundrum, customer service — sometimes I’ve had better service when the restaurant was busy as opposed to completely empty, oftentimes because the servers themselves spend most of their time smoking/​eating/​flirting in the back of house when it’s not busy. Thankfully, Misto didn’t have this problem.
We ended up having a delightful meal at this restaurant, and I once again thank the good people of Unilocal for posting their reviews on the internet. Like I’ve said before, I prefer to judge for myself (and especially with restaurants), but a nudge in the right direction is always appreciated.
So, if you’re ever in Montréal meandering around the Mont-​Royal area and in the mood for trendy Italian, head to Restaurant Misto for great food, excellent service, and a nice breeze to caress your neck as you make your way through their delightful wine list.

Un restaurant italien classique et agréable dans la catégorie «une coche au-​dessus de Mikes «(en termes de choix) et «quelques coches en dessous d’une terrasse à Milan «(en termes d’ambiance). Les pâtes sont bonnes et les choix offerts devraient permettre à tout amateur de cuisine italienne de trouver chaussure à son pied (je suis conscient que parler de bouffe et de pied dans un même paragraphe n’est appétissant que pour certains fétichistes, mais croyez-​moi, la bouffe est bonne au Misto).
Ce n’est pas un apportez-​votre-​vin, alors il faut s’attendre à une addition un peu plus élevée que dans certains autres restaurants (déjà que les pâtes sont un peu plus chères que dans beaucoup de restaurants sur la rue Mont-​Royal). Cela vaut tout de même la peine pour la qualité de la nourriture et l’ambiance, qui, à l’intérieur, fait un peu penser aux bars lounge relax qu’on visite en fin de soirée et, sur la terrasse, permet de se détendre quand la soirée est belle, que la lune et les étoiles nous font des clins d’oeil et qu’une douce brise nous flatte le visage.

Bön je vais faire ma vilaine fille, mais voilà un resto qui a parfaitement compris le concept marketing du «Attirer le chaland «! Franchement, rien qu’à voir le type à l’accueil, j’avais déjà faim! Oui, je sais c’est moche mais que voulez-​vous… Bref, une fois passé l’Apollon de dehors, le reste de la soirée a été très bien: le cadre était très sympa, à la fois moderne, intime et chaleureux. La musique était bien, à la fois entraînante pour nous inciter à poursuivre la soirée, mais pas trop forte non plus pour qu’on puisse s’entendre parler malgré tout. Côté bouffe, plutôt pas mal et à un prix correct, je m’en suis tirée pour 18 $ taxes et tip compris pour un plat. Quant au service, il était rapide et très soigné. Bref, une adresse à retenir.

Cute waiters bring groups of girls. Many cougars. Waiters play this up. French in Italian accent and chivalry in a city where guys like that seem to care more about their next dose of steroids.
Service very slow, disorganized, and waiter farts smell like eggs.
Great coffee hard drinks. Good focaccia pizza with mushrooms. Pastas are over priced.
