After tasting home made Confit Canard(which for all the years prior imagined was some sort of «duck jelly»…boy was I wrong!) many moons ago it quickly became one of my favorite dishes. A special occasion treat with green beans and whipped sweet potatoes on the side. Well, this duck boutique boasts an impressive selection of ready to cook(duck chops, duck tournedos etc.), heat(duck legs confit, duck pot pie, etc.) or eat(duck sausage, smoked duck) products. Now I have to admit I haven’t yet tried the amazing spectrum of duck products at Le Canard Libéré. I actually went in seeking out their home made sausages that I had sampled at a BBQ a few days before. They were RIDICULOUSLY tasty. They have 4 – 5 varieties of pork sausages at any time — all with natural ingredients, sugar-free, and created by an in-house sausage maker! There are pork sausages with cheese and bacon stuffed inside, blue cheese, herbs, and a variety of duck sausages as well. They also carry an impressive regional beer selection including my new favorite — the«Simple Malt Stout»(St-Eustache) — a stout which, to date, is the best I’ve ever tasted. Le Canard Libéré is so much more than a duck-centric boutique — I highly recommend it as a stop-in when visiting the Jean-Talon market. The staff are knowledgable and helpful — and seem genuinely happy to help their customers. Definitely has an old-fashioned feeling — from the service to the layout of the store to the careful selection of products. Bön, I am a fan! *Note: This is not a restaurant!
