What a fantastic idea: a shared community kitchen! I just learned about this extensive Quebec network of kitchens, and can’t imagine why this idea isn’t EVERYWHERE. I so much enjoyed this space during the recent Unilocal Elite holiday event — very open and spacious, with all the kitchen amenities and even little gift items by the door. I think this would be a perfect space for regular group meetings around food — and really, what’s more important than food? The art of preparing food and eating it together is sacred in most cultures of the world, and for good reason — it bonds people together in a deeply communal experience that draws upon our most basic instincts. I think this may be something that we’ve gotten out of touch with in North America, and it’s a shame! You know what they say: «Families who eat together, stay together.»
I had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people at Central Culinaire and I’m hoping for another opportunity to go back sometime in the not-​too-​distant future!
