Located in what was previously a church, this is a beautiful library filled with light. Whenever I come in there’s a low hum about the place, as in there are other people, but it isn’t as bustling as the Plateau library often seems to be. The collection itself at this library is a little bit lacking, in my opinion, at for the kinds of books I tend to borrow, but the wonderful thing about the Montréal library system is that its easy to request a book from another branch. When it comes in they send an email or give you a call, based on your preference. The magazine collection however is pretty great. Instead of nonchalantly trying to read the entire Ricardo magazine while standby in the grocery, sit down in one of the comfy arm chairs and read away. My other issue with the library is opening hours. It seems I always want to visit either before it opens on the weekend, or after it is closed during the week. The borough has a limited budget and tries to satisfy the greatest number of people with the funding they’ve got, so I guess I just have to be happy we’ve got such a nice library to begin with, and accept that I might have to rush over right after work during the week, and wait a bit on the weekends to be able to make my library visits fit into my day.
