Bar Le “Ritz” PDB

If you’re feel like having some drinks with friends on a snowy/​warm/​cool/​hot night (depending on the season), then this is the place for you. If you’re looking for a cute funky place to take your date for drinks, then you should definitely consider this bar. The atmosphere is cool and the drinks are strong enough. Oh and great service too! So, yes I’ve already included it on my list of cool bars.

Plus qu’un bar, c’est une salle de spectacle légendaire. Envie de découvrir de bons nouveaux artistes? Rien de plus que le RBDP! Un peu difficile de croire que l’ont peut siroter un verre et écouter les plus grands bands Indie dans la même adresse. Fortement conseillé pour passer une bonne soirée.

Amazing bands play here all the time. Drinks are good, not expensive. And the atmosphere is pretty nice, especially when there’s great bands that come here (like Seoul and Ghostly Kisses)!

Just a note on this because I made a mistake earlier, Badger only did a few small pieces that were part of the changes made to the look and feel of this great space. The new design was done by the owners with the help of Annika Krause!

What a renovation! The last time I was at this place, I was in its previous incarnation Il Motore, for a music show produced by a friend. So, the changes: the bar has been moved to the side, and the stage is at the back; the stage has been minimized, and the design’s been changed, for the better. The coat check area has been opened up, and aired out, to offer more space for incoming crowds.
Well done, guys. It’s a new space, for a new crowd, but with lots of potential. Hooray!

Il Motore is probably one of my favorite venues in the city. Most of the best shows I’ve seen in the past years took place there. It’s also one of the few venues where I always have a good time, no matter if the place is crowded or not. I like the fact that it’s not located in the mile-​end/​plateau. It’s nice to see shows somewhere else, sometimes. The staff is very sweet and the show tickets are usually cheap. You should go more often!

Un secret bien gardé à Montréal. Un peu loin mais vaut le déplacement.

This place is awesome, simply because they consistently get the best live bands in Montréal year round. The Blue Skies Turn Black people do a great job putting on shows here. I sometimes come when I don’t even know the bands, and it’s usually really good.

Nice local venue. They always have great bands playing there.

Né perdez pas votre temps a aller dans ce trou. En plus, j’ai fait mon Check In, j’ai gagné une consommation gratuite et on a refusé de l’honorer. Donc ils veulent de la pub gratuite, à né pas encourager.
Bar avec forte odeur d’égout. Dégoutant. Malpropreté évidente les lumières éteintes, imaginez avec les lumières allumées.

C’est une super salle de spectacle qui peut sembler un peu difficile à trouver vu son emplacement mais qui est facilement accessible par métro ou même en voiture. Quand j’y suis allée, pour un événement mis en place par Ignite Montréal, la salle était placée de manière à y avoir quelques tables et chaises vers l’avant et beaucoup de place à l’arrière et sur les côtés pour se tenir debout. Pour les petites personnes comme moi, le fait que l’arrière soit élevé d’un pied environ me permettait de bien voir la scèné même si je me tiens normalement sur le bout des orteils pour voir quoi que ça soit.
Le service au bar était très rapide et très bien. Si ma mémoiré est bonne, il y avait des bières à 4 $ et 5 $ avec une petite variété qui saura plaire à plusieurs. Ça né rivalise pas du tout avec les autres bars de la ville, mais pour une salle de spectacle comme Il Motore, une sélection simple et à bon prix est appréciée.

New to Montréal, I found a listing for a small Swedish indie pop band called «Little Dragon». I managed to convince my bf to venture there and we got of the De Castelnau metro in a quiet, snowy, deserted place (but this was a Tuesday night in January.) The show was $ 15 which I think it very reasonable. There was a coat check that unfortunately was FULL, so we had to hold our massive amounts of clothes the whole time. Il motore is a very small venue that would perhaps fit max 150 people (maybe less??). Anyway it seemed like the perfect intimate size for a indie band — and it was! The crowd that night seemed to be in their 20 –30s and seemed pretty un-​affected in general, more like a student crowd than a scene. Beers cost $ 5 – 6 and shots $ 4, although our first round was severely discounted for some reason yay :)
We got there at 10pm, with the place already packed and the opening act playing, and it was still going when we left at 12:30. Definitely want to go back, although I might have to do some research of their future acts as I have never heard of them.
