LOVE this place! Seriously! We were staying nearby, and found this little gem on Unilocal.Decided to walk in to the first floor, which was the«restaurant», but we found out the«pub» was actually downstairs and requested to go there. The server was great about it. Walked into the pub downstairs, and it was the cosiest place I could ask for. It was –26 outside, and it was perfect. Both the restaurant and the pub share the same kitchen, but they have slightly different menus. We tried: Escargot and proscuitto in cream sauce — never tried escargot before, and it was great! Bison bolognese — the gaminess of the bison really adds something to a classic pasta dish. Snags and Mash — BF said it was really good! And beeeer! Bartender downstairs, Wayne, is a hoot! Nobody is a stranger at the bar.

There’s a story in every visit. Whether its a hike in Mono Mills Provincial Park or an adventure trying to find the Mono Cliffs Inn during a dark winter evening, when you finally arrive at Mono Cliffs Inn and Peter’s Cellar, you feel like your travel journey has ended and your food journey is about to begin. I have been to Peter’s Cellar on two occasions and both times, there was a storied journey on the way there. Once inside, you will definitely feel the warmth and comfort of a cozy cellar restaurant. The menu is varied and features many dishes with local ingredients. On one visit we started with a tomato bisque that was absolutely delicious. On another visit the Lamb Shank was truly tender and succulent. Of course there is also room for improvement and the calamari was a bit overdone, however it’s the«total experience» that I am reviewing and not just the quality of the food. Overall, both food and experience are excellent. The service is personal with just one waitress and her assistant who are both professional friendly and they often talk about Carol, the owner. Peter’s Cellar will be closed for two weeks mid-February for the owners annual vacation. There is also a restaurant upstairs which features a few items that are not available downstairs. Much like many homes, the upstairs characterizes the«dining room» and the downstairs, the«family room». For a great experience in the Spring, start with an afternoon hike at Mono Mills Provincial Park and end your day with dinner at Peter’s Cellar. You will end your day feeling spiritually and gastronomically content. Peter’s Cellar is located near Mono Mills Provincial Park which you can get to easily(and don’t trust your GPS) by going North on Hwy 10 and turning right at the 4 way stop in Camilla, then traveling about 3 kms.

Ate here with 30 members of my family as a memorial for a recently deceased member. We ate downstairs in the cave/cavern. Service was excellent! Courteous, humorous and sensitive. We are a bunch of foodies and can be tough. Food was superb. Well worth eating there.

Excellent food– We’ve never had a bad meal and the atmosphere, service Nd ambiance is on par with a perfect evening. Entertainment on some evenings is enjoyable though it gets quite loud in the little pub. I’ve eaten here frequently with and without my children. Having the children is ok during the day but in the evening it’s a nice place for a quiet pierced up meal.

If the food *tasted* better this place would easily get another star or two. The ambiance, presentation of the food, and incredibly fast service point to a 5-star review. Unfortunately, I wish my butter chicken dish tasted as amazing as the presentation. Beer was served from a can, which is ok but I would have preferred real draft beer, and it could have been colder too.

Peter Cellar’s Pub is the downstairs component and it’s worth the drive out. I drive from Toronto for the kitchen’s creative dishes and amazing atmosphere. I can’t speak for the upstairs but the cellar is great. I’ve brought numerous friends on different occasions and it’s always a pleasure. The hours are the most disappointing part because it’s Thursday-Sunday only.

If you’re taking a fall hike through Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, you need to make a stop at the Mom Cliffs Inn– particularly Peter’s Cellar, which is a remarkable little pub in the basement. Remarkable why? Well the staff is hilarious and entertaining. The bartender guy there works the room chatting with everyone, cracking jokes and never forgetting to rub your shoulders. He has a great sense of humour and you know he’s been working there forever. We just stopped in for some pints and wine this time, but we would have had something to eat if they hadn’t been sold out of almost everything on the menu. I had the Chicken Liver Pâté with Onion Confit last time and it was ok. But the place was busy on a Sunday and you think they’d have more than just half the menu available for a Sunday Inn/Pub dinner. I take a point off for this. Otherwise, you MUST stop here after your walk.

Great little gem out in the middle of nowhere that I have gone to several times, each years apart. Service is always exceptional– it seems everyone who works there are incredibly kind, warm, and funny people, the food never disappoints, and no matter where you sit– whether it be in the main dining room, downstairs by the cellar, or outside on the patio, the atmosphere is always exceptional. I personally love to sit outside at the table with a tree growing right through the middle of it! Make sure when you’re there you check out the downstairs. It really is worth seeing. I would give it 5 stars but the food just isn’t quite there yet. It is very good, but not amazing.

Food was amazing, location is gorgeous & the staff incredibly friendly and warm. The pub and wine room downstairs are carved out of the Canadian shield. The tenderloin was was more rare than medium rare but still delicious. Highly recommend the smoked salmon and potato lattkes. Great experience all around.

lovely spot. over friendly service. how about just being professional. The last time the food was indeible. How about asking why everything is going back uneaten? Curry was like a cow pat. The calamari was leather and the soup was like wallpaper paste. Terrible. We used to go a lot and it is convenient but recently the food has been awful.

Lovely location. The food and service used to be good until a couple of years ago. Have given them chance after chance because it’s convenient for us. The only way to describe the food is disgusting. We had curry. It looked like dog food and tasted terrible. No one had more than a mouthful of it. Server didn’t seem to notice the full plates left. This was just the final straw. No offer to substitute or take it off the bill. the calamari used to be good now it’s soggy and tasteless. the servers are too familiar and don’t give a damn. Will not be back. Starters are all about 14.00 and that’s too much for inedible leather.

I guess the chef had a day off. One of the worst meals we have ever had. The duck must have been prepared a week before and then reheated – tough as leather; the ginger beef stew was cold, insipid, and did not taste of anything. We had eaten here a few times before, and while the meals have never been memorable, they were okay.

Explicitly good food, excellent attention, scenic surroundings — what else to ask from a country-style restaurant? Got there by a recommendation from a friend, who also discovered Mono Cliffs Inn by a recommendation from his friend. Place looks like a local treasure, with people driving there to enjoy some great food in a very friendly, family-style atmosphere. Literally everything about the kitchen work was excellent — I have eaten much less impressive stuff for much more money in some«luxury» locations of Toronto downtown. The only slight drawback — portions could be bigger. Still quite decent, but could be bigger, yes. There is a very cute and cozy«underground» bar in the basement — loved a toy railway track running around the room. Wine and beer selection is not super-ample, but very fine — cudos to whoever manages this part. Service is another strong point of the Mono Cliffs — our waitress was super-attentive, friendly and helpful, plates arrived fast, questions were answered promptly. Overall — can honestly recommend this restaurant. Drive by and check them out, hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. I feel good sharing the discovery of such places.
