This was my first visit to the newly renovated 2 level Sportcheck and for sports enthusiasts, it’s like mecca. The first floor is dedicated just to Go Pro and the different ways to capture your extreme lifestyle or just really really fun adventures. The lower level is awesome. It has everything and it just keeps going on and on. I have to admit that when I compare prices here to places like MEC, huge difference. I saved at least 60%. BUT forget the prices. I’m sure all you smart shoppers will do your due diligence comparing costs online. I want to talk about Nick. Nick is one of their technicians(they sharpen skates, tune up skis/snowboards…etc). They have a shop at the back of the store(behind escalators) on the lower level. He, quite honestly, made the whole experience. He was so nice and so patient with all my skiing questions. I think Sportcheck should use him as an example of what customer service should be like(and promote him, now). Just for him, I would have given this review 10 stars. He was that much of an all-star. Also, he’s pretty cute(which did NOT factor in my praise of him, well, maybe 1 extra star out of 10 for that). I think it is a little sad that the level of service generally has been in decline but when I do meet someone who goes out of their way to make my day/experience better, I feel the need to recognize it. Maybe then, the hard job of retail could be a bit more tolerable. Let’s be honest, there are some seriously bad customers out there. If you need work on sporting equipment, go see Nick. You will NOT be disappointed. And give him my number :)
