I was in the market for a Quickmill QM67, and I looked at all the Canadian online retailers. I tried making contact with a few of them, and I was initially underwhelmed. In the end, Espresso Planet stood out among the rest. Rene, the owner of Espresso Planet, matched some very competitive pricing on the QM67. Their pricing was as competitive, if not more competitive, than those of all the US retailers selling this machine(and I live in the US part of the year, so I’ve done several transactions with the major online retailers – SCG, Clive, Chris Coffee, Whole Latte Love, etc.). Josh at Espresso Planet gave a fair bit of his time over the phone and offered some informative direction. He recommended, for instance, that I substitute the QM67 wand with the Anita one for drier steam. I felt like I was speaking with knowledgable staff right from the first phone call.(The owner, himself, answered my first call.)

I’ve been getting serious about my morning coffee and the watery Timmy and burnt acidity of Timothy was getting old. I did some research and learned that I can get fantastic coffee at home with a specific machine. The Bonavista was mostly available from the stores in the USA but this store carried AND it was cheaper than the USA prices before shipping! Off I went and I got immediate knowledgeable service. She was very thorough in figuring out if the machine was what I wanted. She was also very honest in saying that she could sell me the $ 500 one but the $ 150 Bonavista was just as good. Both produced great true coffee shop coffee. Three months later of using the Bonavista, she is right. Great service, knowledge, and price. Throwing in some high end filters also helped score them a rave for me!

I wanted to post an update to my previous review. I only visit Espresso Planet to purchase Monin syrups(still haven’t found another distributer in the GTA… if you know of one, drop me a note) and on my most recent trip to stock up, I found many of the syrups on display had reached their expiration date or were close to it. I’m no syrup connoisseur, so I can’t comment on just how drastic that is, but I wanted to bring it to any prospective buyer’s attention.(The best before date is stamped on the neck of the bottle)
