Martin’s Downtown

Very fresh homemade taste unlike anywhere else in Mission. Totally exceeded expectations. The duck wings however were just okay, very dry and not tender.

Had a nice lunch here yesterday. I ordered the shrimp avocado sandwich and was quite surprised at the amount of shrimp! Delicious!

Delicious food! The most upscale restaurant in Mission. They do have some casual fare on the menu but the daily specials are fantastic and worth the extra few $. If you can’t find street parking there is parking in the alley behind the restaurant, where you’ll also find the wheelchair ramp. They have recently started an herb garden behind the restaurant so you know the ingredients are fresh.

So great to have such a fine restaurant in Mission again. Kerry and Laurel are spectacular hosts. The food is exceptional; the prices reasonable; and the décor is spot on!

Have been for lunch many times and always enjoy Martin’s. Appie were great… we had the spread trio and the cheese plate. Very tasty and good value. Enough for three to share. Our entrees were delicious and filling. Everything is fresh and is made to order. Appie came out super quick… entrees took a little longer to prepare. We even had dessert… rich and delicious. Service is always pleasant and attentive. Always an entertaining view of downtown if you sit near the window. Love it. Recommend it. Will be back again and again.

I heard lots of rumers that this place awesome. I ordered the ”reuben” and was top notch. Im a fat guy and was very hungry and I could not finish the sandwich Quality and quantity were both in the house. Top score! Ill be back. A must try if your in the Mission/​Abby area.

Chef Kerry Martin is a Red Seal Chef and he knows what he is doing when it comes to quality food and service!
Finally! A place where you can go for a nice quiet dinner where you can enjoy the brilliance of Chef Martin’s talent and great service. Oysters on the half shell in Mission? Wow!
That was my first experience at Martins Downtown… and it just got better from there!
Our server, Beth is amazing also. It is nice to go to a place where the servers aren’t dressed like call girls and where they actually say «your welcome» instead of the preverbal «no worries» after you say thank you to them! This is a true dinning experience if you want to get away from the loud crowd.
Chef Martin also comes out into the dinning room to greet his guests and is very hands on with his knowledge of food! Freshness is always on the top of the list!
He also supports local ingredients and that is important to all of us!
Some of you readers may know of Chef Martin’s other little gem called The Blackberry Kitchen at Heritage Park in Mission.
My only negative comment would be that the décor at the downtown restaurant is a little dated. This place used to be called Dakota Joes and it still has a lot of the old set up from then. Otherwise, two enthusiastically thumbs way up!
I could go on and on about Martin’s Downtown but you’ll have to take it from a self proclaimed epicure like myself… this place is FANTASTIC!

Excellent new Resturaunt downtown. Owners of the Blackberry. Duck was perfect, cheese plate thoughtful with a lovely preserve. Wine list is nice and long and dessert is sumptuous with my favourite raspberry coulis to pour over thick rich cheesecake or chocolate at your leisure. I am thrilled we now have a proper place to Dine, not just eat in Mission.
