The Dance Institute is a ’boutique’ dance studio serving children ages 3 — 17, in the Markham, Unionville and Richmond Hill, Ontario area. We specialize in Ballet and Pointe (Cecchetti Method), Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Tap, Modern, and Contemporary. We teach students of all abilities offering both Recreational and Competitive Dance classes and programs. Learn the joy of dance in reasonable class sizes from highly qualified instructors.

History

Established in 1992.

For over 20 years, The Dance Institute (TDI) has provided a school for dancing that maintains a friendly, family atmosphere while still being passionate about the quality of instruction in our dance classes and the overall dance experience for our patrons.

The Dance Institute is a smaller studio where:

Meet the Business Owner

Sharon M.

Business Owner

Sharon trained at the Nester Brooking School in London, England and The National Ballet School in Toronto. In 1976, she opened her own studio in St. John’s, Newfoundland which she ran successfully for 12 years. In 1982 she founded the Atlantic Dance Company which provided gifted students the opportunity to perform. In 1987 she moved to Toronto and taught for Seneca College, The Koffler Dance Centre & Wishing Well Montessori School. In 1992 she established The Dance Institute in Markham. Sharon is an Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Cecchetti Society Branch.
