Mr. Escape

Went here with a group of 8 for a friend’s birthday. We were told the ancient Egypt room would be best, so we decided to go with it. After being handed a walkie talkie and told that we could buzz them for two clues, we were let in to start our «experience».
The pictures were all tattered and ripped from previous players. The pages needed to navigate through were all ripped and torn, and written in bad English to boot. There were holes in the walls as well. We struggled hard with the first room, before essentially asking them for the first clue (FYI, make sure the protractor you’re given doesn’t have all the damn numbers rubbed off).
The second room had lasers (not sure what that had to do with ancient Egypt but okay). Figured it out in about two seconds. One of the switches needed was hanging out of place by a cord. It looked like it had been ripped out out of the wall.
At this point, our time was pretty much up, so I can’t give much of a review on room 3. Should also note that they knocked on the door every 15 minutes or so, asking if we buzzed them, they weren’t sure. Really ruined the experience.
I definitely won’t come back here. Buy if you decide to go, take note:
— they don’t accept visa, and give a discount for cash
— the coat rack only holds about 10 jackets.
— ladies, there isn’t really a safe place to keep your purse.

Me and my squad hit up escape rooms a lot, we’ve had our fair share of escape rooms ranging from absolutely amazing to absolute garbage. Being experienced escapers we went about attempting a new place, Mr. Escape, and diving straight into the deep end with their hardest room, the Egyptian one. There are a couple things; firstly the room itself, the 3 part «adventure» looked like trash. Pin-​up pictures on the walls that had been ripped from previous groups, bubble gum stuck to one of the major pictures, holes in the wall, hooks on the wall that would come off from blowing on it… just no good. Secondly the puzzles, we were able to solve the final box which contained the key to get out without needing to finish half of the other puzzles… The puzzles that we had «missed out on» were completely ridiculous (not to mention the x, y cartesian coordinate system was apparently supposed to be read as y, x) whoever designed these must have been completely out of their mind.
All in all, there are much better options out there. Extremely regret paying $ 22 and spending 1 hour of my life on this.

Room I played with friends was Kitchen of Hell and it had puzzle that had chinese symbols on the wall and lock, which made it harder for us to solve. We can’t read the language and the symbols look for the most part very similar to us. Puzzle also flipped X and Y axis order so we took too long and ended up needing help. In the end, we still did not understand why the answers would provide the Y coordinate before the X. Who does that?! One of the final puzzles with the shells didn’t make sense either.
Overall I wouldn’t come here again. Just save your time and money.

Came here with Faiza K and it was a decent time. Had some trouble booking online so called but no one picks up till the place opens (around 1pm). It ended up not being a big deal at all though! There were plenty of rooms available on a Sunday.
The guide explains the directions to you and LISTEN carefully because there are some clues in the intro spiel. Kinda hard to pick up on because the guide had a thick accent and spoke quickly.
Some of the clues were obvious and others were real head scratchers. You can ask the guide for two clues. But we had the same problem with not understanding what she was saying due to accent and speed.
In the end, we couldn’t escape the room. But we had a fun time anyways!

My friend and I (who both had never done a room escape adventure before) decided to try this place out to see what all the fuss was about being locked in a room. The rooms are all themed with varying levels of difficulty (note that for some rooms you need more than 2 people to play). We ended up in the Vampire/​Werewolf themed room which reminded me of some goth 1980s boudoir-​y kinda room. The room does look a little tired and there could be more props inside to support the story line better.
Basically the room holds several clues in order for you to get out of the room in an hour. From getting out of a locked cage and handcuffs to finding keys or the combination numbers to open up boxes for the next clue, this will definitely get your mind racing to try and figure out the clues. Some are easy while others are head scratches, but luckily you can call a friend for some help! They give you a walkie talkie and you are allowed 2 hints at any point in the game.
This is definitely where logic and listening come into play to figure out the clues and to be honest I think we did quite well solving the puzzles!
I’m sure there are better room escape places out there, but with the Groupon deal this was only $ 10 so it was a good opportunity to try it out
