Our decision to eat here was due in part to having a $ 20 discount with a hotel promotion that we had taken advantage of through Wag Jag as normally I don’t like eating at hotel restaurants, but that has been changing lately. The décor is somewhat dated but nice, and fairly upscale but because it is a probably more kid friendly hotel it is not too bad. You waited to be seated, but when it is not busy they just tell you to take a seat anywhere, and being a nice night we decided to sit outside. We found the service extremely slow, but found out the next day that they had individuals that had called in sick. Not really an excuse, but it explained why it took almost 10 minutes to even have a drink order taken. Food took over 20 minutes, which I often think is a psychological ploy to ensure you have a 2dn drink after waiting so long. There is not really a large menu, but that’s not necessarily a band thing as what they do they have done well. I enjoyed the Salmon, and Karen enjoyed the Pork Tenderloin. Portion sizes were good, and the small food selection made it much easier to choose. A little overpriced for my tastes but the discounted offer made it more bearable.

Menaggio Ristorante Grill and Wine Bar is an Italian bistro inside the Monte Carlo Inn along Warden Avenue, which is labelled as the Monte Carlo Downtown Markham. Instead of an enclosed restaurant, Menaggio is a lounge located along the hallway of the main floor. The restaurant has a la carte and a prix fixe menu. We ordered from both menus a smoked salmon and a grilled calamari appetizers, a Bancroft trout and a seafood linguine entrees, and a cheese cake and a fruit custard desserts. Everything presented nicely. The grilled calamari tasted the best. The smoked salmon appetizer and the Bancroft trout were tasty enough. The seafood linguine entrée($ 20) and the custard dessert($ 6) tasted okay but were underwhelming for the prices. I’d like to emphasize that we were satisfied with all the food, but the a la menu was expensive. We decided that next time we would order 1 set from the prix fixe menu, and 1 extra item from the a la menu. We can share the appetizer and the dessert this way. The interior décor is conservative and boring. Other than the fact that we were the only dining table in the bistro, and the rest were all drinking tables, there was nothing weird about the bistro. The service was attentive and friendly. Overall, 2.5 stars.
