Markham Subaru

Pretty poor experience at this Subaru. I came here to change my winter tires to summer tires.
Pros:
1) Wifi
2) They gave me a discount for taking so long (+1 star)
Cons:
1) Their shuttle bus driver seemed pretty reluctant to drive me to Markville Mall. By the time he was ready to go, enough time had passed (30 mins) that it wasn’t worth it to take the shuttle.
2) They told me it’d take 1 ½ hours to complete the tire change, but it’s been 2 hours+ and my car still isn’t ready.
Don’t buy a car from this dealership. Don’t let your friend buy a car from this dealership. Don’t let your grandma buy a car from this dealership.

My review is for 2012, but looking at the recent reviews, it does not look like it has changed much.
Back in 2012, i came to this dealership just to see what Subaru has to offer, i was looking for a new car. I was with my wife and i remember walking around looking at the showroom cars, and no one came to ask us anything. After 10−15mins, we just walked out.
Years later, a friend was shopping for a car, even though Markham Subaru was closer, i advised him not to go here, i drove him all the way to richmondhill Subaru. Much better there!
I think if you get bad service in the sales dept, it relects the whole dealership, and vise versa.
If you get bad service just once. why ever go back. Who cares if you are the closer one, Hope these dealerships smarten up.

DO NOT install the $ 489.95 Remote engine starter kit for the push button start model if you’re getting one as the range is only 75′.

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change over the phone a week prior. I show up and there is no record of my appointment because apparently the internet was down when I made the appointment. The worker forgot to put me in the system even when he told me he wrote it down. I was not able to get my oil changed.
I will never go back to that place for any kind of service.

Standing in the showroom for at least 30minutes and not a single salesman has approached me despite there being only a handful of customers. Sales seem more concerned with chit chatting each other and not out to make a sale. Guess ill take my business elsewhere.

Sometimes with a new car brand, you do NOT know where to get
, after 4 dealerships, I wanted to try a place someone who knows Subarus recommended. Skeptical given the mixed reviews online, BUT the positive ones read «genuine“given the outcome of Archimedes for example, where he didn’t even buy anything. It’s a very small dealership, so not a lot of service advisers helping you, and the one they have appears «new,“with «okay» people skills. Need to improve, or it’ll be really frustrating to deal with. While I waited for my car, I over heard one of the sales guys say «he’s a really good customer.» In ALL my years of dealing with car dealerships, I have NEVER heard a compliment given about a customer where they actually want to keep the relationship by doing all they can.
From experience, 3 new cars later from ONE dealer within 9 years, and they still found a way to make me feel «guarded“post sale on the third car before they were bought out by a dealer who didn’t have the best customer relations. Hope if Markham reads reviews, they’ll improve in the areas where there were negative experiences. Back to my visit… mechanic who did work on my car. He had excellent people skills because he actually SPOKE with me in a professional manner where he explained WHAT he did, and couldn’t do[manufacturer will NOT reimburse dealers for «preventative measures» type work ].Explains why GM is now paying for upholding this car manufacturer standard…
Aside: for those dealerships automating their phone systems, have a LIVE person option

A few months ago, I went to buy a car for my wife to drive so we no longer have to share a vehicle. I am writing this as a comparison piece to my recent experience purchasing a new car.
First off, I really hate buying a new car. So much so that I haven’t really tried to buy one for 13 years. However, I know the charade that is the sales process.
The good part with this dealership is there is very little charade. Rather than having the Wilson, the salesman, bounce back and forth between the manager and rushing us to buy a car, the sales rep just sent us directly to the manager who helped negotiate our final bill.
During the test drive, they didn’t really promote the obviously bad features of the car namely the GPS navigation system. The only reason why we have to get it is because of the iSight capability which they were showing some features of.
There was (almost) no surprise to the cost which I liked. It just included everything that we would need INCLUDING extended warranty and LEASE PROTECTION (since they understood we were planning to lease the car). They dissuaded us from getting the rust proofing since we are planning to lease the car to save us costs.
The manager even helped us save on interest by allowing us to put as much down as possible. Since we don’t have time to manage money in such a short term to make it grow past 3% interest in 3 years.
Once the deal has been made, there was just one issue that came about. That is the information for the certified check that they had provided was incorrect so we had to rush back to the bank to get it adjusted.
Since the Subaru Forrester is still made in Japan, we were warned and we had expected it will have a delay to arrive, about 6 weeks.
Upon arrival of the new member of the family, our gas tanks were filled up, the odometer reading was under 10 km, so it had barely moved. It was a nice feeling to see it like that.
Would I buy here again? Probably, just because the other Subaru location with the better salesman (also named Wilson) was in a more inconvenient location, even both dealerships are under the same family. Wilson from the Eglington Subaru had less of a charade when it comes to sales.
The only reason I didn’t get my car here in the end wasn’t because of the sales, but because the car which is safe and has a good quality just didn’t match my personality. However, if you are looking for a good safe car especially for people you care about, get a Subaru.
