I come here pretty often(3 – 4 year) and the price is great. I usually find Ann as she’s very professional and will try her best to tailor to what you want as much as possible.

I’ve been HK Hair Design’s loyal customer since I was a toddler(before they moved to their current location) and I’ve had some great and some bad experiences with them. I don’t see many young women come here. I think of this place is for only men/boys and older women. If you’re a young woman who’s been looking for the perfect Tailor Swift bob I’d pay the extra cash and head to a more well known establishment to not be disappointed, although you won’t be disappointed on the price. Since I’ve been with them so long I know who’s bad, who’s good and at what type of hair cuts each of my favourite barbers are good at. For us men if you want a classic look Patrick(the barber who’s been with them since day 1! +20years) is the best for that. For more modern/hip looks like faux hawks and sorts ask for George. He’s been there for a few years now and he’s quick and effective. Their names are posted beside each of their mirrors. Only thing is like all barbers, an inch means 2 inches. So don’t tell them verbally. Instead, show them with your fingers, pick up you hair and show them exactly what you want. I’d say They have prepaid ticket-cards with 4 cuts costing $ 32($ 8 each) UPDATE March 2016 George has quit. Any recommendations for other barbers here?

The verdict: you pay for what you get. Initially, I just wanted to get a trim for my long bob. My hair is worst now, choppy layers, asymmetrical. I was reluctant to try first choice since they may not have much experience with cutting asian hair, but given that HK hair design is just as bad, I don’t think I will ever come back. I spend so much time trying to style it and it still looks bad! I gave up all together — I just wear my hair in a pony now. I hope it grows back fast. I think spending the extra 20 dollars is worth it(I normally pay 35 dollars for a cut). I can’t provide an opinion on male cuts. but ladies, be warned!

Quick, no frills hair salon. To the haters, you get what you pay for. I’ve been coming here since the late nineties. If there’s a barber or hairdresser you prefer, make eye contact with them or else you’ll be shuffled off to whoever’s available. I usually swap between George and Patrick, who both have a lot of regulars. They generally do a good job and take their time — if not, it’s OK, my hair will grow back in a couple weeks anyway. The coupon is now $ 32 for 4 haircuts, still a great price. Be sure to tip.

The«barbers» know nothing about symmetry. They cut unevenly, they barely understand English terms and worst of all the place isn’t sanitary. God only knows when they last used the fungicide. Will never recommend the place.

Patrick is the best barber at this shop. If you dont go to him or the other guy at the end on his side, then I would give this place 3 stars. I dont think the other barbers are really that good. They sell coupon booklets. 4 haircuts for $ 28 including tax. That’s $ 7 a haircut! And every 4 coupon completed coupon books also results in a free haircut. Great price… and I always get a good haircut. Because of the low price($ 7) I feel bad and end up tipping between $ 2 – 5 each visit. Friendly staff as well.
