This butcher shop is so clean, you walk in expecting the stench of meats, but instead are greeted with no smell whatsoever except the slightest hint of Worcestershire marinade. Frozen meats that are vacuum sealed are very fresh once thawed and cooked at home, and there is a very good choice of sausage variety if you like traditional English flavors like leek and pork, apple and chicken, oxtail, etc. Will definitely come back for the various cuts of meat for braising and grilling which you cannot find in chain supermarkets.

I live in the area and wanted to try meat from a butcher for a long time. I typically get my meat from the grocery store, but after enjoying some of the upscale steakhouses in Toronto, I started a quest to make my own perfect steak! Anyway, I’m no expert, but the steaks I got had nice marbling and were cut to the thickness that I asked. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. The one thing I have to complain about, is the little jar of horseradish I bought… it’s expired. I was grossed out when I tasted it. It’s partially my fault for not looking at the little expiry on the cap, but I was distracted looking at all the different spices and marinades. If you’re going to buy something other than meat, just double check the dates on it. Anyway, aside from that it was a good experience. A little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The quality is better than a typical grocer. I wouldn’t do my regular meat shopping here, but for an occasion sure.

Quality at its finest. If you’re searching for a butcher in Markham area Alex’s. I’m surprised to see that no one has reviewed this place ASYET. So hopefully I can start the trend. The only draw back to Alex’s Meat is their hours 9 – 5, however if you’re picking up a delivery outside of their business hours they can always arrange something for you. Though their meats can be pricey, you have to keep in mind, its the quality that you’re paying for. In my books you can’t put a price on quality(i mean it can’t be a rip off either lol)
