Looking back, London was historically a city that struggled with supporting its arts scene. That’s why it was such a revelation when The Arts Project opened up in the early 2000’s, allowing for what ended up being a great venue for social events and as an outlet for local artists to showcase their work. I was able to be involved with a few art shows and events close to a decade ago when I actually lived in the city, and it was a great venue for day time or evening events when we didn’t want to use nightclubs for events like art and fashion shows. This weekend I came back for an event and was really happy to see that after all these years, the facility has grown and evolved and continues to do what they set out to do, by creating a downtown venue where arts and community could interact. 5 stars for the Arts Project as not just as venue, but as a supporter of the arts in a city that otherwise has giant cultural gaps that can’t be filled by corporate sponsorship and mainstream focused big budget events.

For the creatively inclined and curious, this is the go to place. Many art classes open to the public, festivals using this location as HQ, you’ll definitely find something to your liking. Yesterday was promoting the Dundas street festival. There is a variety of art on display by local artists. The atmosphere is very upbeat and you should definitely come here during the London fringe festival!

I enjoy the diverse and engaging art shows on at the ARTS Project. It is an amazing showcase for London’s incredible creative talents. It is a huge resource in downtown London and I peek in every time I am in the neighbourhood. I like that it is very accessible to artists, fans and the broader community.

I visited the Arts Project when my friends company was celebrating their anniversary. They had a projector set up with a slideshow and a movie. It was catered and had alcohol as well. This is a perfect space for a smaller event with urban flare. As I add happenings around London to the Unilocal Events page, I always find a TON of stuff happening at the Arts Project. From plays, exhibits, painting, to event hosting, this place is a multifaceted space with great work on the walls. I took some time to take in the art while we celebrated at the event and each piece was very lovely. I don’t know too much about art galleries or art itself but I really enjoyed my time here. It felt relaxed, yet exclusive. Next time you need a spot to host an event, check out the Arts Project, you will be glad you did!

The Arts Project is a great asset to the London arts scene. They sponsor a variety of events, from standard art gallery exhibits with local artists, to art classes, to shows in a black box theater. They also have resident artists’ studios, and they rent out their venue. It would be a cool place to host a corporate or other special event. I’ve visited the Arts Project for a gallery opening. It was interesting art with a chill crowd, plus beer and wine for sale and free sweets, cheese, and crackers. I’ve also been to a play in the blackbox theater, a production of Jekyll and Hyde. I visited on the first night of production, a pay-what-you-will preview. The show was good overall, though it definitely felt like a student production — the lead actors were quite good, and the script was really solid, with decent staging, but the rest of the acting was pretty uneven. Tickets on non-preview nights were $ 22, which seems steep(considering that tickets for plays at the Palace Theater, which in my experience are much more polished, are the same price.) There’s no designated parking, but metered street parking seems pretty easy to find in this part of downtown.(Your assessment of the easiness of parking might not line up with mine; I’ve recently moved here from LA, where jostling for parking can be a contact sport.) I’m sure I’ll be back to the Arts Project again sometime soon; maybe I’ll see you there!
