Red & White Moving company

PLEASE AVOID THIS MOVING COMPANY!!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
My experience with red and white moving company:
Booked a week in advance for 8:30 on March 1^st after seeing a kijiji ad promoting 2 hours, 2 movers for $ 140. Was told I would receive a confirmation call closer to the move date.
By Friday (day before move) around 3pm I had not received a confirmation so called to confirm myself. I once again confirmed the time as well as the cost for additional time if move takes longer than 2 hrs. After discussing the logistics of my move I was told not to worry as it will be very quick. If it did in fact go over the 2 hours I would be charged $ 85 an hour.
The morning of the move I received a call at 8:30 (the time my movers were to arrive), stating they were running late and would be there within half an hour.
After another 50 mins I called back. At this point I was getting upset as I was under a tight schedule and had new tenants moving into my apartment later that afternoon. I explained this to who I believe is the owner. This is also the same gentleman I confirmed with the day before. I was told the truck was to be picked up from the mechanic that morning but was not ready so I would have to wait until a new
truck was picked up. Being that a move is very stressful as it is and I was now an hour over my booking I was definitely upset. Although I did state that I knew this wasn’t their fault, I will admit I was very frustrated and definitely didn’t hold back in showing this. I was told they would be yet another 30 mins. I stated at this time that I should not have to pay for additional fees past the 2 hours for such an inconvenience, and then stated that I guess I have no choice but to
wait.
I waited a full hour this time before calling back. At this point my movers were now 2 hours late. When the receptionist answered I asked for an update on the where abouts of my movers. It was then that I was
told that it was communicated that I had cancelled my move! «Why would I cancel!?» I asked urgently. Apparently it was thought that I was not willing to pay past 2 hours so that was interpreted as a cancellation. I unfortunately was not made aware of my own cancellation. After this clearly shocked and upset me I was told I would receive a call back in 5 minutes. After 10 minutes I frantically called back and the phone was not answered. I did this 3 more times with no luck getting through. Finally, I left a voicemail frantically looking for an answer of any sort. My call was never returned.
Thank goodness for family, friends and an excellent landlord. I was able to be out of my apartment that afternoon and in time for the new tenants to move in.
I urge anyone who is thinking of using Red and White Moving Company to rethink this choice. I spoke to someone at «Moving Again» who did whatever he could to help me in my situation. I would recommend using «moving
again» based purely on the understanding and empathetic customer service I received from him in my moment of need that day. He also told me that he has heard that Red and White moving company is notorious for being hours late. This is just here-​say though. I can only really comment on my own experience.
I was left completely stranded by red and white moving company on a highly stressful day of need.
Lessons learned:
For me, I wish I could have kept my cool when dealing with the incompetence at red and white moving company. I learned that it is important to ensure the job is done before complaining about the quality of work.
For red and white moving company I would like to remind them that in the age of internet and social media, blatantly leaving your
customers stranded will get you nowhere. I will be posting this story everywhere I am able to. Be weary of how you treat potential customers in the future.
