It’s a great facility for families. The pool is a lot of fun. Great gym and walking track. They have 3 awesome arenas that usually have some great hockey on them. They are usually busy after work till about 7 ish then it kinda dies off. The only thing I think that they need to work on is sometimes the staff isn’t overly helpful and can sometimes make you feel like you are inconveniencing them. But all and all a good experience

great place to escape and get a work out in their excerise facility, walking track and afterwards enjoying a Orange Julius after working up a sweat and burning off those calories. Also this Rec Centre has curling rinks, soccer field and a gym, two skating rinks and concession stands. it’s a one stop for all your recreation needs.

I’m writing this as a lifelong Calgarian, with a lifelong rivalry against Edmonton(and area)… so while we may be quick to dish jabs about anything in each other’s respective cities(which is nonsense), let’s give credit where credit is due… I’m in town for a AA hockey tournament held at this complex. .. and everything is first rate, and first class. I’ve been seemingly everywhere in this province for CAHL games /tournaments, etc. Most locations are a bit of a groaner, knowing you have to spend a long weekend there. Here? No way. This complex is huge, with 4 hockey rinks, a couple of indoor soccer«fields,» multiple curling sheets, a fitness facility, restaurant and lounge, and on and on. It has a bold open design for spectators, and even a massive concourse fireplace for the chilly hockey moms to sit around(mental note, visit this large fireplace). This isn’t your average rink in Alberta to show up and play a game. It’s probably the nicest, period. And they did a great job for the tournament players too. Five stars. Leduc Rec Centre(LRC) is the old Black Gold Centre with some fancy upgrades. The LRC has the pool, skating rink and concession from before. But now there’s also a field-house, a court(for basketball and games like that), curling rink, an exercise facility, walking track, event space(with a kitchen), restaurant and lounge, and an Orange Julius/DQ. The last point may seem pretty strange, go work out and then get a Blizzard. But that’s why it’s a «rec centre» and not a «fitness centre.» The LRC is also where the rodeo is held each May, with the fair outside. The field-house/court also have been used for trade shows and other events like that. And of course sporting tournaments, Admission ranges from $ 7.50 for a single admission to $ 487 for an annual pass. If you get the pass(which also comes just monthly if you don’t want a big commitment) you get access to the fitness centre and the other facilities(like the pool and skating rink) when they’re open to the public(and not booked for private lessons). I’ve been to the fitness facility and it’s pretty standard, treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes, weights and weight machines that I don’t know the name of, you know stuff you’d find in a gym/fitness facility. The LRC also has some drop in fitness programs, but it seems the more popular options(like Zumba) you have to pay extra for. Considering how much has been added to the old Black Gold Centre(to make it the LRC) this place is pretty spiffy. I wish the drop in classes were a little bit more fun(right now it’s all«older adult cardio» and that sort of thing). Still if you’re in Leduc and looking to workout, or just go skating or swimming, etc this is the best place to go.
