The Kilted Tech RV Repair

I only know one RV repair shop in BC, but I don’t know how any other could deserve your business more than the Kilted Tech. James West has the kindness and generosity of 1,000 people combined, and he is truly a RV expert. I am not exaggerating when I say that he is absolutely an amazing person. You will be happy and very grateful to have encountered a person with as much integrity, heart, and professionalism as James. And even if you don’t have any repairs for him, you still have the opportunity to make his acquaintance by taking the RV training classes that he offers.
My wife and I were in a real bind when we had a problem with our RV kitchen sink while traveling. This was our first RV trip, and we had bad luck: our camper was built with parts that are too rare to be bought off the shelf anywhere. James checked his parts inventory *twice* for us, but he didn’t have all of the parts we needed in the exact size that our camper used.
The easiest fix for any RV repair shop is to have you bring the camper to them and then they can overcome any «custom» problem by putting in place their own custom solution. But this was our first RV trip, and we wanted to avoid towing our camper any more than we had to. If we wanted to hitch it up again, we had several repair shops to choose from. But instead of telling us, «you need to bring in your camper,» James said, «Let me find another way for you.»
Since James didn’t have any parts in stock, it was impossible for him to fix our problem without bringing him the camper. But what he could do was help us get the parts we needed, immediately – instead of waiting a week for them to be ordered & shipped. James said if we could get the parts at Home Depot, he could build us a repair that we could install ourselves at our campsite. But he didn’t just give us a parts list. James drew us a very detailed picture of exactly which items we needed. We took that sketch to Home Depot, and their two sales associates said, «I love this drawing.» Like James, they didn’t have the parts in the exact size that we needed, but thanks to James’ picture, they were able to figure out what we needed to do and how they could make it work with the parts that they did have.
Note: the Home Depot guys weren’t as experienced as James, so their alternative fix wasn’t exactly right, but James had given my wife a crash course in RV kitchen sinks and ABS piping, and so she was able to find errors in the advice that she got from the two experts at Home Depot. This saved us a lot of time, because she was able to devise a fix on her own while at the store, and to get the parts for a repair that neither of the Home Depot guys were recommending.
When we made it back to Kilted Tech, it was just minutes before closing. But he stayed 15 minutes late to build us a fix using the parts my wife bought. Not only did he fix our problem, but he didn’t charge us even though his expertise and professional service were truly invaluable. I was astonished. We had a real problem, our camper was in need of a serious repair to regain basic functionality, and James really had to work to devise a solution for us that wouldn’t involve trailering our camper to a repair shop. And he wouldn’t charge us anything for what he did. While he was developing a fix, I was thinking, «Whatever the charge is, we’ve got to pay this guy double.» That is how much he was helping us. As we walked to our truck, my wife said, «I want to buy him a bottle of wine.» That is how much his service meant to us.
James gives courses on RV repair and maintenance, but also offers personal walk throughs that will thoroughly orient you with your camper. I assure you, he knows what he’s talking about. My wife is not a very handy person. She had never heard of ABS piping before James gave her his crash course, but by the end of it, she was the third expert at Home Depot that we needed to get a fix for our sink that had been out of service for 2 days. He teaches you all you need to know to solve your problems, and that means he is an outstanding teacher.

I brought my 2015 Class C motorhome to the Kilted Tech RV Repair for a number of modifications and repairs. James operates this small RV Repair business and I found him to be honest and trust worthy and all of the work he did was completed on time and the work was extremely satisfactory, even excellent I would say, and his pricing was very fair. I plan on using his skills for regular maintenance from now on and for any future repairs my unit might need. I strongly recommend the Kilted Tech.
