This review is several days overdue, my plan was to send this as soon as I got home. We make our yearly pilgrimage to Kingston to visit my wife’s sister and her family. As part of that, the adults take a trip to The Keg and leave«the littles» at home with a sitter. We always choose The Keg, as it never fails to delight us. This night was no different. I called ahead and told no need for reservations and admittedly, I was a touch annoyed with having to wait 15 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait. The fella that took us to our table was a little impatient in guiding is there. I guess he had a time to beat to get us seated after we had to wait. ;) That’s it for the negativity. Our server, Liz, was amazing. She was pleasant and engaging. Animated and friendly. She offered suggestions for us to try. My wife is celiac, so she appeared with The Keg’s very comprehensive gluten free menu for her to review. The food was delicious, hot, and served without delay. It was filling yet not over powering. I opted for the burger instead of a more traditional steak. Delicious. My wife had the prime rib, she was pleased. What topped off the night was my brother in law was not feeling the best and Liz offered lemon tea and ginger ale to help him along. It was greatly appreciated by him for sure. To end it off, if you haven’t tried The Keg, what are you waiting for? Get there!!!

Craving for steak after a long train ride. So turned Unilocal for suggestions. Two places had four stars — the Keg and Le Chien Noir. Because I did not want to gamble with the quality I went for the dependable Keg. The hostess was unaccommodating kept telling me I could only seat at the lounge or patio(muggy day today) after I clearly communicated my preference to sit at the dining room area. I wanted to enjoy a quiet meal after a long day. Hostess did not want to sit me. Made me check out a secluded spot at the lounge to which I said no. So I just had to tell her«yeah you know what never mind, i’ll just find another place». At that point she was like«oh it’s not a problem we can sit you at the dinning room area». Me going What??? Lol. Anyway, sitting now at Le Chien Noir. The staff are way nicer here. And oh did I say I got a table with a good view :)

Very good steakhouse. We where not dressed for it, but they said there was no dress code. Good thing because it was very good food. Expensive to take kids to, but they finished all of their dinner so it must have been good. We will go again when we are in the area.

Fantastic steaks. I’ve spent a lot more for much less. The baseball top steak is amazing.

The Keg always offers consistent and familiar choices which make for a reliably good meal. Additionally, their staff are dedicated to making your dining experience a good one, so this is always a good choice in Kingston. Most recently we celebrated a convocation dinner here, and although I really do love the Keg, the steaks weren’t as perfectly made to order as usual. I don’t want to hold one lackluster experience against the Keg, so I’ll be back soon for yet another delicious steak dinner, I’m sure of it. I will say that they did a great job with my gluten-free requests, which really does make me want to come back again soon!

My husband and I dined here after a recommendation from the place we were staying the night at. We were not expecting a finer dining atmosphere, but a pub style atmosphere. The food was delicious. We both ordered steaks and were grilled to our specifications. Although, mine had a little too much pepper on it. We had no problems with the service. Our server made sure we had everything we needed in a timely fashion. I did think that the prices were a little higher than you expect when your given the impression that The Keg is more pub than fine dining.

Wonderful place for a quiet dinner for two or a fun dinner for a group of friends. Saw many groups yet the environment was still quiet enough for the dinner i had with my fiancé. Food: the food was really good! I had steak with shrimp and a side of asparagus and a twice baked potato. The steak was deliciously well done and the potato was creamy and very flavorful. I am a huge fan of asparagus but i can’t say i loved it here. My fiancé loved his steak as well, no complaints from him. Service: we had a very friendly waiter who was attentive and had great info about the food and restaurant. Atmosphere: i have to say the ambiance/atmosphere was wonderful and very enjoyable. Everything from the lighting to music was fitted with the look and feel of the location/restaurant. Will definitely revisit during my next visit in Kingston.

My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner. We both had Steak and Lobster tail, which was very delicious with glass of wine. The staff were friendly and helpful. It had a romantic atmosphere but it was a bit pricy when the bill avoid. This is great place for a romantic evening out and highly recommend!

Always a sure bet for well prepared meat in Kingston! The dishes are consistent and you know what you get. The décor reminds me a dark den the colour of a cigar. Be prepared to make reservations early for weekends and bring earplugs because the diners can get loud and the acoustics sound like a highschool cafeteria.

The Keg is just a solid bet and in Kingston, it probably shines a bit more than most Keg’s elsewhere. Just a great place to grab a hearty steak. Great service and plenty of space to accommodate larger groups. You wouldn’t think of coming here most nights but if the parentals are in town, why not grab a good meal here and avoid the bill. Of course, you’ll pay them back once you get a real job… if you graduate.

Let me be the first to review this. Okay, The Keg. I am a Canadian living in Chicago, so have not frequented this chain restaurant for quite a few years. While in Kingston visiting my son, a freshman at Queens U, he asked if we could take him to a «nice» place. Of course, we were all in jeans so it had to be casual as well. Fortunately I came across The Keg while searching for restaurants on line. I must say, for the price we paid the food was excellent. I had the Teriyaki Chicken — my old favorite — and it was even better than I remember. My DH also had chicken, and ate every morsel on his plate. My son ordered the Keg size filet, and polished off everything. My son also had the cheesecake, and we shared the apple crumble with ice cream. All in all a solid four stars. Good food, decent prices, and it put a smile on my son’s «getting sick of cafeteria food» face. Well done. We’ll be back, I’m sure.
