Like a good son, I was visiting my mom who has recently moved to Wolfville. She is loving the area and likes to show me new places to walk. She saw pictures of this park in a friend’s facebook page. Having explored a lot of paths around Wolfville we decided to branch out. Miner ’ s Marsh is a flat, gravel trail that is a little over a mile that runs through wetlands. Even on an grey and drizzly February afternoon, the snow covered bull rushes and iced over marsh had their own charm. There are lots of benches placed throughout where you can stop and admire the flora and fauna. Informative plaques are sprinkled throughout. There is cute low bridge that gets you from start of the trail over the Cornwallis river. A ramp leads up to the bridge so it looks wheelchair accessible. If you are a local you probably already know about it. If are visiting Kentville or passing through I highly recommend stretching your legs at this park. We didn’t see any birds so I can’t wait to see it in the Summer when it is teaming with wildlife. The only suggestion I would have to make it better, would be have signs on the main thoroughfare for the park. The trail entrance is tuck away at the edge of a parking lot behind a large, brown brick municipal building. There is no way we would have found it unless we knew what to look for.

To find this park, first you need to find the Law Courts on Cornwallis Street in Kentville, then go to the far side of the parking lot behind the red brick building. There you will see a sign for Ducks Unlimited Miners Marsh. It is a really nice peaceful park to walk around, with a bridge, many ducks, a big marsh and a variety of interesting plants along the flat trail. Miners Marsh is close to downtown Kentville and you can enjoy it in a short amount of time, or a long time, whatever you prefer. It’s just a nice place to go for a walk.
