We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. So tonight I was able to meet my son and enjoy a great Mexican dinner… You would think ordering a margarita would be pretty basic especially in a Mexican restaurant. Well I ordered a margarita as soon as I sat down. The server was very friendly she came back to the table with this BRIGHT green margarita… I said oh I guess you use that powdered or syrup stuff… She said yes that’s how we make all our Margarita’s…you can also order one on the rocks if you want… oh yes please… it was better but could have used real lime juice… Anyway, I ordered chicken enchiladas and Bryan ordered the Beef fajitas. We also ordered their guacamole and housemaid tortilla chips. The guacamole is made table-side, onions, cilantro leaves, fresh limes, avocado and some jalapeño peppers. It was yummy but not worth $ 9.95. The chips also came with salsa which was actually VERY good and I’m not big on salsa, but I could of eaten lots of that! The chicken enchiladas were absolutely fantastic — the sauce melted in your mouth delicious it came with a scoop of rice that had some peppers but nothing to write home about there was a deep fried tortilla on the plate shaped as a small bowl with some beans in it not really refried beans or even Mexican beans just some red beans again nothing to write home about but the enchiladas fantastic! Bryan said the Fajitas were very good… a little platter of thing to accompany the sizzling beef, peppers and onions… some tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and a scoop of «Mexican» rice. The dinner was actually very good and I will return and try some couple of other things. Customer service was five star impeccable really welcoming they really want to make sure that you had what you ordered and they want to make sure you enjoyed what you ordered.

You can’t go wrong with anything at Quilas. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner and I always receive great services with a smiled followed by excellent food. You must try the mojitos and pescado(fish) tacos.

You know, I was so excited about this place, and now as I’m actually reading reviews saying that the owners are Salvadorian I wish I’d known! And I wish they’d had pupusas on the lunch menu! And now my experience makes so much more sense, since Sopa Tortilla is not typically served in El Salvador. All the other diners’ food looked really good, however, the Sopa Tortilla was pretty awful. Things I did not like about it: 1. it was small 2. it was basically bacon broth, no tomato to be seen 3. it had large chips, which I tried to break with disastrous results(see below) 4. the quantity of avocado and cheese was teeny tiny 5. it tasted like dishwater. Beware the tippy table outside! I spilled my soup all over myself, even into my shoes. The waitress offered me another bowl, which was really sweet, but I was so grumps at that point I couldn’t make it. The salsa was really great, tasted homemade and delish. Another minus: their selection of non-alcoholic beverages did not include Horchata or Jamaica. Sad face. I would say it might be worth trying the entrees, but stay far away from that soup.

Less then impressed. Small portions, big price tag and I have not been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve some chips and salsa before your meal.(Found out after the waitress said i should have asked for the complimentary chips) The time it took from order to table tells me the food is predone and heated, not fresh prepared. The beans(not refried) were cold and there was about ¼ cup of rice. When I said something to the waitress she was rude. She said«looks like you enjoyed, it is all gone» Just because some one is hungry and finished the small meal does not mean it was worth the money. In conclusion 2 people, 2 meals, 2 drinks $ 55. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and paid half the price and 10 times the quality.

Very good food, pretty good service. It appeared as though the owner was helping out with the tables, which is most likely a reaction to previous patrons commenting on poor service. Our waitress did a great job, and was very sweet. The chicken enchiladas were some of the best I’ve ever had(we had beef too, but chicken was better). The chicken fajitas were also great as well as the nachos. Why only 4 stars? The pastor tacos were pretty mediocre. The flavor was okay, but the filling size was pretty small. Anyone who knows food knows how big the margins are on 4 tacos for $ 16. At least fill them up. Overall, good restaurant, good experience.

We stopped here on our way to Banff from Vancouver. At first we were skeptical because the restaurant was quite empty for lunch time, but the food and service were top notch. The owner, Delmys, was kind enough to apologize for the light construction going on while we were there and offer us some tips for the short time we were in town. Favorite thing: The salsa Would come back again!

Feeling in the mood for some Mexican food, used Unilocal n found this place. I arrive the house was empty, witch got me little nervous … Was greeted by a young and handsome guy(Gary) I asked to sit on the big table by the window and was told it was perfectly fine. Decide to go with an authentic classic margarita on the rocks n salt, sooooo yummy Follow to that Gary bring some warm tortillas and salsa, I asked for the ceviche for appetizer and Tierra & Mar for main course . Such a great tasty fresh food, I was impressed to find this kind quality restaurant in Kamloops . The restaurant closes at 10pm, I was still eating but I didn’t feel any pressure to leave. Over all a great experience, if I’m ever back in Kamloops, I’ll be back for more.

What a surprise! I wasn’t expecting such an authentic Mexican/El Salvadorian Meal in Kamloops. Once seated, a warm basket of chips was presented, and they were fabulous! The margaritas were dangerously good, and well priced. They have a large selection on their menu, but I opted for the Pork & Pineapple Tacos(actual name escapes me right now). The tacos were so fresh, they absorbed the flavour perfectly. Each taco had a perfect balance of spice and sweetness, and left you wanting more. Meal was served with a nice portion of rice, and warm beans. I will be going back to this location!

This was a great Mexican restaurant and close enough to authentic that you will find in Kamloops. The lady who owns the place was lovely and gave us fantastic service. The warm freshly made chips and salsa were delicious. I shared the fish tacos and Carne Asada(pork tacos) and enjoyed both. The fish tacos were especially good. Fish was perfectly cooked and everything was fabulous. My friend had a mojito to drink which she loved. In all this was a great place to eat and I would definitely recommend and go again. Fabulous value.

Great food, great service. This is a step up from Fiesta Mexicana in terms of menu items, still a tex mex focused menu but a little more refined. Portions are not as humongous as Fiesta Mexicana either. They accommodated my wife’s celiac disease as well with a number of gluten free choices. I had the beef tacos, serving size was just right. Don’t get me wrong, love fiesta mexicans as well. Kamloops has two great mexican joints.

First off, when Mexican restaurant servers bring chips to your table, it could be a totally boring, unnoticed occasion. These chips: warn, crispy, and the salsa was delicious. Our table ordered 5 dishes plus guacamole that they made at the table in front of you(I learned a new recipe and it tastes amazing) which we all loved. I had chicken enchilada, which was really tomato-ey and cheesy, which a touch of feta cheese, without being salty at all. It was an amazing lunch and we are totally going to go there again. July 7: A local food blogger, iLive2Eat, rightfully noted that the food is particularly El Salvadorian, as are the owners of the place. There are one or two specifically Salvadorian dishes, handmade by a relative of the owner, but the majority of items are more typically traditional Mexican.
