Canwest Art(and earlier, when it was called the Cherish II Gallery) is our place to go for fine arts and crafts in Harrison Hot Springs. It’s Errol & Maureen Brimacombe’s place … and showcases some of Errol’s fine paintings, and lovely selections of other arts and crafts(including sculptures, carvings, art glass, pottery, jewellery, small crafted gifts, and the like), and art services(such as consultations, art restorations, appraisals, and picture framing). I find browsing within their shop/gallery to be a delight — everything well-displayed for viewing, and the host at the time, answering any and all of my ‘what, who, how, and where’ questions. Then the less easy part, trying to decide on ‘the’ piece that really catches my eye and fancy, more than the other one(s) that seems to be doing the same! But the fun part always comes when back home. opening the packages, and setting up to admire! Over the years, purchases for me(at this location, and at the their former Cherish II shop/gallery location), have been a number of raku pottery ‘vases and bowls’, ‘useable’ pottery pieces(wine goblets, liqueur ‘glasses’, dishes, and the like), pewter dishes, glass ‘angels’, art cards, and the like. And most-recently, some lovely stoneware-pottery mugs and jars(artist, Mud, Sweat & Tears, Sorrento, BC), the jars filled with gourmet honey(from Nicola Valley, Merritt, BC), a delicate art glass bird(artist, Mark Bateman, Victoria, BC), and two, very naturally-looking and unique, porcelain and stoneware pieces resembling small tree stumps, each with a frog(artist, Darrell Perfumo, Mayne Island, BC). I missed seeing Errol & Maureen at their place during recent Harrison stays, but thanks to Ingrid, the ‘host’ at these times, I much-enjoyed the fun talks and stories we shared during my visits. For me, Canwest Art is a must-do place to see and do during our Harrison Hot Springs visits and stays.
