Most haunted houses/haunted things of any sort don’t really get me jumping or get my heart racing and I usually find myself regretting spending money to only freeze my tush off for an hour long line! But I was pleasantly surprised tonight! I jumped a few times and they were definitely clever with placement and costumes!!! Aside from people who clearly want to ruin it for everyone(«just so you know hes going to jump out of the bushes right here!» — yes thank you for sharing!!) — I had a great time!!! Its also fantastic that all the money goes to a cause! YAY! Definitely will go again next year! I would Not recommend for ages 6 and under. One kid was pretty scared after only 5 mins! BUT if you are the strongest dad/mom in the world then im sure they will be fine!

When a couple of friends and I first decided to give this event a shot, we weren’t expecting too much. I’d heard from others that it was quite frightening, but as an avid reader and watcher of all things horror, I don’t tend to scare too easily. At least not when it comes to things I know are staged. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, and in an attempt to avoid being too disappointed I’ll admit I arrived there not expecting much at all. However, I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. This event is extremely well planned and coordinated. It consists of a trail winding through the woods along which the volunteers running the Hollow had set up various interactive displays and productions to make your heart beat faster and your hair stand up on end(and if you’re a lover of the macabre like me, paste a big smile on your face). The trail continues for much longer then I would have expected(took us about 45 minutes to complete). It includes not only the type of things you might expect to see(people dressed as various monsters, killers, and ghouls stalking and jumping out at you unexpectedly, etc.), but some very creative costume and display/performance ideas as well. I don’t want to ruin anyone’s enjoyment by giving anything away though, so I’ll say no more… The Haunted Hollow runs weekends in October. If you like to be scared, this is definitely worth checking out. It’s actually held in the large woods behind somebody’s house, tickets go on sale in their backyard at 6:30pm(sounds a bit sketchy I know, but trust me, so much better than you can imagine). At 7:30pm they start letting people into the Hollow in small groups. The event runs until 9pm. Ample parking is available just down the road(about a minute on foot). According to the website, Friday night is the best night to go, as it is usually the least busy. To give you an idea of the approximate wait time, we went this past Friday night, arrived there at 7pm, and were let into the Hollow a little after 8pm. Bonus: The cost is relatively cheap($ 10 per person) and a portion of the proceeds go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and to Joints in Motion.
