On my way to a friend’s place in the area and did not have a chance to have breakfast nor lunch. It was already about 2:30 pm and I really needed food. I saw the sign for the West End Diner and decide to turn in. It is a friendly place with a good breakfast menu. I had the regular breakfast of 3 eggs, home fries, beans, and a choice of bacon, sausage. Toast was between white, whole wheat, or rye. The home fries were unique and crunchy on the exterior. Delicious. Everything else was as expected, good service and friendly staff. Will definitely come back to this diner. Food 4⁄5 Service 4⁄5 Cleanliness 5⁄5

First, I’ve had many great experience with this place with the exception of the last two times. I am a very solitary guy. I always come in by myself, usually with a book. I always tip about 40% on a simple breakfast and a cup of coffee. I’m always that guy. I also love the club. However, the last time I came in(it was mother’s day), not only was I shuffled around three times, my table moved, made to feel like a complete nuisance, I was asked to leave by an older gentleman who works there. Not only was I not finished my breakfast or coffee but I was made to feel completely unwelcome. I had the hostess walk up and apologize but it still made me feel like shit, in the past year I’ve probably spent more than $ 500 at this place. I like it. That hurt. It gets worse. Today, I walked in, it wasn’t busy, and I ordered my usual: two eggs sunny side up, rye toast with sausage… it was unfortunate but the eggs had no yolk, they were sunny side up hard. I know, I know… ask for another batch. The waitress walks up, I tell her and she insists they are sunny side up. Well… that sucks because I truly did love this place but I will never be back. I could deal with the mother’s day nonsense(PS terrible) but being told my sunny-side up hard eggs were the ‘norm’ was a disgrace. It sucks that this is the only place around, it sucks that has such potential. It sucks that you made me feel terrible. Never returning and that, to me, is very sad…

–Cute little spot for your weekend brunch –You can order anything on the menu at anytime(I order souvlaki dinners for breakfast) –Decent prices, generous portions –You see the same servers when you visit so it’s a nice, friendly place

Food was average. Restaurant was not properly heated. Orange juice was from concentrate. Hollandaise on the Benedict was good.

Although the food was okay the service was absolutely horrible. The waiters were extremely rude. We went for Sunday morning breakfast and after waiting for about 25 minutes to be seated(although they told us it would be 5 minutes), they took our order. Our food came quickly but we felt completely rushed. The waitress took away my plate before even asking if I was finished. They brought us our bill as we were eating and hurried us up to pay. As we sat there finishing up our coffees(which we did not even have time to finish with our food because the whole breakfast was rushed) three different waitresses came by within five minutes and started cleaning and organizing our table, and hovering. One of these waitresses then came by and told us very rudely that there was a line up outside and we needed to leave. In total we were sitting for breakfast for around half an hour. It felt like they were trying too hard to have a high turnover, and were rushing customers. We didn’t even have time to finish our coffee before being asked to leave to make room for other customers.

Sunday breakfast was a disappointment. The menu unimaginative as there was standard fare and the food was average and a lackluster in presentation. The prices reasonable. The restaurant exterior was pretty… lots of plants for sale, but the interior was a typical(getting tired) décor.

Just had my first breakfast here, and I can see why it’s always busy for weekend brunch. I had the hungry man breakfast and they scored on the items other places don’t get quite right: great bacon and great home style hash browns. Service was a little slow but it is Family Day. Having a few extra staff could have easily fixed that. Overall great meal, nice place, great value. I will repeat.

Stopped in for a late breakfast on Boxing Day. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I also found the price to be reasonable and consistent with other similar establishments. Nice to have another place for breakfast in the west end and the atmosphere is very nice. A real step up from the usual offerings in the city. I will certainly be back to try out lunch or dinner.

Just had the pork souvlaki dinner. Best I’ve had in a long time. Huge portion. Couldn’t finish it all had to take-out the rest. Fella at the next table had the biggest burger I’ve ever seen. Service was excellent too.

Good, solid, tasty, old-school diner food. Excellent value for money. A real standout in Hamilton.

Glad to see a quality resto spring up in Whitney plaza… I saw that this new joint, and wanted to try it out. Attempt number one, it was packed. No chance we were waiting 45 minutes for breakfast. The next weekend we tried again. Very short wait, and we were politely seated. Standard breakfast joint /diner menu. Service was good, quick and attentive. Food was well prepared and tastey. Not the place to go if expecting foodgasms, but if you are looking for a good breakfast, I reccomend!

My daughter and I stopped in today and had a great breakfast. The waitress was friendly and skilled, the omelets were delicious and the booths and décor were great. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast.

If you’re looking for fast, friendly, and scrumptious food, the West End Diner is for you. No question. Their breakfast spread is unmatched in value — quality product across the board, and delivered hot and fresh in no time. Although the servers may be working out a few of the kinks, the cooks are up and running at full speed. Me and my boys had breakfasts all around last Saturday and we all left full, with a few extra bites still on our plates. Quality bacon. Great waffles. Really good coffee. Looking forward to several more visits. **I thought I should update this review — I’ve been back several more times, and the servers have definitely ironed out the tiny kinks that were there(which were borne primarily from the fact that my first visit was merely 5 days after they’d opened). Now a visit to West End Diner nails the perfect trifecta: Great Food, Great Service, Great Price.
