Tung Hing Cafe & Sweets

This was my first stop upon arriving in Hamilton from the states last Saturday, and I was not disappointed. Came here strictly for the Bahn Mi. The bread was just the right kind of crunch on the outside, soft on the inside. For the standard sandwich it was 2.75. Not a meal, but a great snack. You can get a few other meats, or extra veggies at a small additional cost. Unfortunately I was working in Grimsby and was not able to stop there again (they close at 7pm). Definitely would go there again if I’m in town.

Best Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) in Hamilton, period. I drive down from the West Mountain almost every Saturday to pick up either the Saigon Special or Grilled Chicken Banh Mi’s for the wife and myself. Service is quick and friendly, I highly recommend this place.

Bun here is very hot and fresh ! The meat inside is big portion and very juicy ! Highl y recommended !! Bread is more Asian traditional

FOOD: the banh mi here is good. they make their own bread in house and any banh mi connoisseur knows the bread is the most important part. I like everything about the banh mi here, except I just wish there was more of it, more bun, more meat, more pâté. the banh mi shops in Toronto seem to give you a better deal. this has the potential to go from
«good» to «exceptional». the bao (pork steam buns) here are served hot which is amazing and I’ve only seen this done in Paris, France. The onions in the filling might be too large for others but I don’t mind. there is a great ratio of dough to filling so you feel you’re getting a great bang for your buck. the buffet of sweets, snacks and cakes here are great. no complaints and its always fresh. I’ve never had a problem with the quality.
SERVICE: the ladies working the counter here are always friendly and bubbly. this is completely unusual for Asian establishments so its very refreshing.
OVERALL: I am a bit of a banh mi snob so I won’t say this is the best I’ve ever had but it is the best Hamilton has to offer. I like to support them because they’re local and unlike other Asian business they actually seem to give a crap about the customers.
