History
Established in 1989.
Bark Busters is an incredible story of two people who followed their passion and created a legacy that has had an incredibly positive impact on the well being of dogs around the world. In the 1980’s Sylvia Wilson was the manager of the RSPCA shelter in Wollongong, Australia. Danny Wilson was a volunteer there. Both were very frustrated by the amount of dogs being surrendered because of behaviour problems. Unable to accept the status quo, Sylvia began working with these dogs. She applied all she had learned about dog behaviour and training and used her incredible ability to read temperaments and understand dogs. This resulted in the dogs being rehabilitated and returned to their families.
Thus, in 1989 Bark Busters was born. It grew through Australia and New Zealand in the 1990’s and spread to the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Israel, Taiwan, France and Belgium. Today it is the largest dog training company in the world. So far, Bark Busters has touched the lives of over 500,000 dogs.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
I’ve always had a soft spot for rescued creatures — from dogs and cats, to the weird and wonderful. I first came to Bark Busters as a desperate client. My family’s three year old Cattle Dog cross was becoming extremely and increasingly dog-aggressive and was starting to show aggression toward humans too. As a dog that could inflict real damage with a bite, he was costing us thousands of dollars in other people’s vet bills.
We contacted Bark Busters and within the first two hours of the lesson we were absolutely floored by how simple techniques could make such an enormous difference in our lives. After that, I was hooked. I loved the deep satisfaction that training my dog gave me, and I had to share that with other dog owners. I firmly believe that my dog would have been euthanized were it not for Bark Busters, and as a result, I truly sympathize with those ‘hopeless’ cases. I love the smile on an owner’s face when they suddenly realize that there IS a better way.
