I was a bit worried about staying here but the hotel I really wanted had no vacancies. The reviews for Admiral Inn seem to vary widely between Unilocal,Expedia, Google and Trip Advisor. Even recently some people seem to give it four or five stars and others one or two. So, here is my review: The girl at the reception desk when I checked in was very courteous. My room was on the ground floor, and it had hardwood flooring although I understand that rooms on the upper levels have carpeting which some people tell me is kind of dirty. The floors in my room however were very clean. The room was very spacious. There was a desk, an arm chair with a footstool, and a wall unit which held the TV(it would really help with modernize the room if it wasn’t one of the old boxy TVs), a small coffee maker and a microwave(I loved it the microwave because I could save money by buying some frozen meals). There were ample outlets, which I only mention because someone else said something about there not being very many. There were three table lamps and each had two outlets on its base. The bathroom was a decent size. The cleaning staff could have done a better job cleaning the mirror but other than that the bathroom was very clean. The water pressure of the shower was pretty low though, which is a pet peeve of mine. At first I had a problem with the Wi-Fi. My phone and tablet would only connect in the hallways and as soon as I got a foot inside my room it would disconnect. I went to speak with the girl at the front desk and she said that was unusual she normally doesn’t hear many complaints about the Wi-Fi. However she said she would call her boss to see if she could reset the modem. I went back to my room and within 10 minutes the Internet was working fine and the girl at the front desk called my room to see if the problem had been solved. After that I had no issues with the Wi-Fi. And now, regarding the security and safety of the building. I felt quite safe. The exit at the end of the hallway required a key card to be opened from the outside, and at no time when I was there was it propped open. Also, I never noticed any people lurking in stairwells but again, my room was on the ground floor and so I didn’t really use the stairwells. Aside from that I found the hotel to be rather noisy due to other guests that seemed to think it was a dorm. They would prop open the doors to their room so they could wander between rooms and chat, rather loudly. While this was really annoying I can’t fault the hotel for the guests that stay there. Unfortunately, the, uh– shall we say«quality» of a hotels guests usually reflects the price of the hotel. In a cheaper hotel you’re going to get a «different» sort of guest than at an expensive one(at the more expensive ones the guests have the decency to make their drug deals inside the rooms). Although the Admiral Inn wasn’t cheap it is certainly at the lower end of a middle-class hotel and this was reflected in the guests. This is the main reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. however the hotel doesn’t have the new look and feel it would need in order for them to charge more for a room. When I checked out the guy at the desk was very pleasant and checkout was very easy. So to sum up a rather long review, for the price it was a decent hotel in my opinion, the staff were friendly and helpful, but the other guests left something to be desired. I don’t like to note that I never ate at the restaurant and so I cannot comment on the suit. And finally, the only problem I had with the parking lot was that the rows of parking spots are rather close together and there were a lot of blind corners. Kind of dangerous. Which might explain why a group of ladies drove into the side of the building.

Aside from the hotel service, the hotel restaurant is excellent, the hostesses are slightly impatient but the dining room is always very quiet and rarely full. In particular i recommend the Schnitzel dinner or Turkey club with fries. Simple cuisine, executed effectively, a consistently solid place to grab lunch brunch or an early dinner.

The best thing about Admiral Inn is the ease of buying drugs. Seriously AI, when you walk around the back of your hotel at 8pm and there’s a gaggle of sketchy dudes in a cloud of green smoke, maybe you should chase them away? Call the police? Everything else was fine — location, room, even the food in the restaurant wasn’t half bad. But the seating/lighting by the back door and the fact that no one seemed to care what the people were doing… This hotel is teetering on being really nice and really scummy. If they had a security guard or parking lot attendant to monitor the traffic, I would bump the review to 4 stars. Just get rid of the riff raff. Something else I forgot to mention — when you go to the front desk to complain that the back door is being propped open with a brick… and the people at the front desk do nothing about it, it doesn’t fill you with confidence. We just didn’t feel safe here.

I agree with the other reviewer about the shady dudes in the stairwell, or sitting outside my room in their car smoking and blasting tunes. The room was ok, wish power outlets were available, had to unplug the lamp. The Internet here is worthless, cuts out often. Will do my best not to stay here again.

Customer service could use some serious work, but our room was clean, quiet(except for the a/c, which was actually on the louder side) and comfortable. Except for the campground quality toilet paper. It was terrible — thin, rough, and cheap — that one, seemingly trivial, detail made the entire room feel more run down.
