Chef Darren is the best chef in the city. Ian, who is chef D’s go-to, does an amazing job. I’m not going to put him on Chef D’s level as an overall chef(let’s not get crazy here), however Ian’s wraps are really damn good too. The Chef Special is my go to wrap. Everything here is good. I have never had the privilege of Wrap So D Catering. However I’m sure it one of the best things in Halifax. I am surprised more people don’t come here on a regular basis. Healthy, wholesome food.

The food is good and the staff… entertaining:) but they kept me waiting on eggs benedict for way to long(they forgot to cook the egg). Maybe offer a rebate for wasting time.

Summary tag line… Wraps so Daringly, Dangerously, Delicious I Demand more!(did I get enough Ds in?) This review will also defy my normal format as its different! My mom and I were doing some precamping running about and needed to go to Garrison to pick up beer, being hungry after work and wanting something good, we settled on a place my boss enjoys! Half of the experience at Wrap so D, is the chef sing along! I must admit it was by far the part that made this feel so much more like I was apart of the kitchen and less a part of the customer base. (mostly because we have radio sing alongs where I work too) I cant remember what my mom ordered, but I ordered the western… The funniest part is what sold me on ordering the Western… Curry Potatos… how many people look at it and go «ew curry potatos» I go «Curry potatos, in a western wrap? lets give it a whirl!» in my head i was wondering how on earth it would work… but damn did it ever work! I couldnt get a picture of it because I devoured it to quickly! on a cold damp day it was hot fresh and dripping with Deliciousness! Ending Summary Im in danger of becoming addicted!

My first Farmer’s Market food was Wrap So D Catering and I thought it was really good. By recommendation of Darren himself, I ordered the chef’s special which included things I can’t even remember now, but most importantly: bacon, veggies, egg, and maybe feta? Goat cheese? I apologize that I don’t remember, but it was melty goodness. It was definitely on the expensive side, but I guess I just have learned to expect that at this point, after living cheapville,(the United States) my whole life. I’d probably be a more frequent visitor if it was more of a $ 6 – 7 lunch instead of the almost $ 10 I paid. Grab lots of napkins! It will drip on you!

I decided to try this place because it was listed in The Coast as one of the best things to eat at the farmer’s market. I tried their pulled BBQ chicken wrap and was honestly not impressed. They make it there fresh on the spot which is nice but everything was overcooked and dry. The chicken came out dry and unappetizing and the only saving grace was some sauce… To be honest, it was quite expensive for what it was and I would therefore not try it again and am actually quite confused as to how it even got awarded as one of the best in The Coast.

The cinnamon roll photos tweeted from Wrap So D loured me down to the Seaport Market last Sunday. The service was prompt and friendly but one cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing left my wallet $ 5 lighter. I don’t know if they are still doing a breast cancer fund raiser or if there’s an up charge for the frosting but I thought that was steep. Flavour wise, it’s yeast based dough so the texture is lighter but it didn’t have as much cinnamon flavour as one from Mary’s Bread Basket. I’m afraid even with the awesome cream cheese icing it didn’t win me over.

I order the Chef’s Special wrap yesterday for lunch. No doubt, it was pretty good(albeit drippy), but the price seemed a little steep to me for a sort-of small wrap. I had never bothered with trying Wrap so D prior to my random market trip yesterday. Frankly, the Saturday morning crowd stresses me out and makes me feel like a lost sheep looking for a serious herding. I don’t like the bumbling and bumping or the long lines or the spilled sandwich all over my front(no, no, not bitter. It’s cool…). So I figured ‘why not?’ since there weren’t many other food services open for business at 1:30pm. Despite my longing for a larger wrap, Chef D seems to be a hilarious character. My friends and I were gleefully watching him try to shoo a pesky bird out of the market. Lunch and a show was appreciated, and I’ll probably try another wrap on another day of wandering, but it didn’t blow my mind. Perhaps it’s shame on me for not ordering a less-expensive wrap, but 9 dollars plus tax for bacon and eggs seems a little chilly to my poor pockets.

I split a wrap with a friend one Saturday morning at the market. There was quite a wait but you can watch the chefs while they prepare the food, which I found fun. The wrap itself was fine. Nothing special. And I was expecting something a little larger, given the price(around $ 9). The guy in charge was giving his two sous-chefs a hard time in a joking manner, but it still sometimes bordered on obnoxious, which made it a little awkward while waiting/watching the process.

Confession time: I’m not as committed to the weekend morning market routine as some of the other Unilocalers. Quite frankly, I like my sleep especially on the rare Saturday morning that I get to just relax. So, when I do make it into the Seaport Market, I’m almost always seeing a ton of booths and vendors for the first time. Today, I ended up here shortly after the lunch hour and was thrilled to find a food-serving spot that was open on a Tuesday while the rest of the place was a bit of a ghost town. Wrap So D is right in the middle of things across from Steve O’s but I could see how you might miss it during a crowded Saturday morning. The man in charge himself slings about six signatures wraps(plus omelets and breakfast wraps in the mornings) that’ll have you forgetting the days of cold chopped veggies, a shred of cheddar, and some Ranch dressing in a wrap. These bad boys are creative concoctions made fresh with clearly premium ingredients. Of course, you can always build your own but I can’t imagine why you’d ever want to… The Pulled BBQ Chicken had me questioning my vegetarian status but ultimately the Garden won me over with the promise of a hot ‘n spicy oil, roasted red pepper sauce, and a party of veggies. I love me a place that doesn’t get lazy with their veggie options! The Garden(about $ 8ish — cash only) was definitely nice and flavourful, served hot with just a hint of crunch to the veggies and a perfect dose of egg for some extra substance. I wouldn’t call it spicy by any stretch but the *spicing* was lovely. Totally satisfying and perfectly portioned. Words of caution: it gets drippy because of the delicious roasted red pepper sauce. Don’t consider this a wrap that can be eaten while mosying or while on first dates.
