Absolutely the best starbucks I’ve ever gone to — In any country. They always get your order right, and on the very rare(0.001%) chance something is off — they are always so polite to remake it. Plus the baristas are amazing!!!

I don’t visit here often because the prices are a bit higher but once in a while I’ll treat myself on my way into work. The location is really convenient for me — I get off my bus just down the street. Unfortunately this also means it can be really busy — there are lots of offices and other businesses in the area, and with the University being so close there are always lots of students studying. Basically I would only recommend this location for walk-in’s and those grabbing a coffee on the go — I wouldn’t count on finding a seat, or parking(it’s a really busy corner with only street parking, which you would be lucky to get at rush hour). That said, the staff are always really friendly and professional here and they always seem to have a good selection of food. The layout is a bit awkward in this location(there isn’t much room for the line or to wait for your drink to be made, which can cause some congestion at busy times), but service is always fast so chances are you won’t have to wait long anyway. All in all, great staff and service and a good place to grab a coffee and head to work or class.

This location of Starbucks is the closest to my work but I usually just go in and out for my order. It doesn’t have the cozy feel that I prefer and I think that stems from the fact that the main thoroughfare to the cash goes right down the center of the entire seating area. It feels like it is a busy spot and not one where you feel like lingering for long. I prefer to curl up with a book while I sip my drink or work on something but here it feels like too much of a high traffic area to properly relax and tune out the things happening around you. I tend to take my drink outside and savour it there instead. All this being said, the staff is always friendly and offerings are always consistent with all locations.

I love this Starbucks location! Being a university student, this specific location became the main source of my daily doze of caffeine for the past couple of years and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. The baristas are very friendly and always makes my drinks right! They always make small friendly conversations and are always so pleasant! The place is a bit small and has less than a dozen table; but, it does have a fairly large patio for outside sitting in the summer time.(The lady with curly blonde hair makes the best Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccinos!)

If I had to chose one chain, it would be Starbucks. But lets make one thing clear, I don’t usually go the coffee route. IF and only IF I do its for a mocha! I find the coffee packs a little to much punch for me, followed by a knock out(biiig ol’ crash) I’m more partial to small independent coffee houses’ coffee. That aside. I DOLOVELOVELOVE their Christmas/winter drinks, some are a bit sweet but Oh lord candy-cane/peppermint anything is delicious! The service at this location is always quick and friendly, have a hard time hearing them(no I’m not old) with how loud their music is. It always seems so homey, everyone laughing and having great conversation next to someone who is writing their paper or reading a book. It always seems like a family!

This was the first proper Starbucks to open in Halifax about six years ago. Although the location down the street on Spring Garden and Queen St seemed to get more attention, I did eventually grow to prefer this one because it has less foot traffic so it’s less distracting. But I’m obviously not the only one to feel this way because it’s often busy in the afternoons. Being so close to Dal, it’s probably the spot-away-from-school to study for those that can’t stay awake in the Killam(that was me…). There’s a lot of table space here if you’re with just one or two people but if here by yourself to get some reading in, there’s no guilt in having a table to yourself. However, on the flipside, meetings or groups of people probably won’t fly as there aren’t any big tables. There are also a few comfy chairs along the wall although I don’t think they’re too comfortable. At least not how I sit in them. Maybe I’ll try to curl up a bit better and see how it works. I also found they had mini-peanut butter cupcakes here! I rarely get treats at Starbucks but I can’t resist peanut butter treats. It was pretty good. Nicely moist and topped with a piece of a peanut butter cup. I’d get two but really… I need to cut back. As far as Starbucks in Halifax go, this is one of the better locations. I typically prefer this one over the other Spring Garden location although it is slightly out of the way unless you live near Dal.

Though I’m usually more partial to smaller, independent coffee houses/cafés, once in a while I like to indulge in a Starbucks(their white chocolate mochas are to die for, even if they are a tad on the sweet side). The location of this place is absolutely perfect– it’s within walking distance of Dalhousie, which is ideal for the student who needs a caffiene rush during those infamous all-nighters, and since it’s right beside the Robie-Spring Garden bus stop, it’s a great for people to grab a hot beverage while they’re waiting to catch their bus. Most importantly(for me anyways) — it’s literally steps away from my office, so I can easily get my much needed caffeine-fixes. The real selling point at this location is the friendly atmosphere and quality of service at the store. The staff here are ALWAYS friendly and smiling, even during early morning jaunts and just before closing time. Also, they offer friendly advice on what treats are the tastiest when you just can’t decide what you’d like(though realistically, most of the baked goods here are fabulous anyways). Service is usually very fast and efficient, and I’ve always enjoyed every beverage I’ve ordered at this locale.

As a former Starbucks barista I have high expectations every time I order a cup, and those expectations are usually met. Anytime someone is paying $ 4.00 for a coffee they share these same expectations, and that includes the service I receive. While the location of this Starbucks is great(at the Spring Garden and Robie intersection) the rest of my experiences here have not been. I stopped in for my favorite drink, a Café Americano after a meeting I had in the professional center and found myself waiting around while a worker bused tables and cleaned behind the espresso bar. When I’ve been back since it has taken obscenely long to order and then receive my drink. One particularly frustrating visit I asked for my espresso shots to be re-poured(because they had been sitting unattended for about a minute) and I got a glare from the guy preparing my drink. I felt like my coffee snobbery was inconvenient to him, which wasn’t great customer service. Overall the coffee is decent, what you would expect from any other Starbucks. You don’t have to worry about burnt or old coffee here because the turnover is really good. Hot Hint: The best part about getting a coffee here is sitting out on the porch/patio in the summer.

It’s probably due to the distance — but this starbucks was my biggest ‘culture shock’ when I first came to Halifax from Vancouver. The low fat bars and fruit cups are missing, replaced by rice crispie squares and other bland goodies. I ordered one of my favorites from back home, a banana chocolate vivano. For some reason, it did not taste the same here in Halifax. In fact, it didn’t taste like anything at all. They tried making it again, and still it tasted like a wood shavings shake. They modified their methods slightly, but there was still no improvement. I have to wonder how difficult it is to fail at something so many times in a row, especially when you are following a recipe and claim to have made it many times before. In the end, they not only gave me a refund but also a card good for one free drink of any kind or size. I used it later for a green tea latte, which they did get right. I haven’t had any drink troubles with them since although I haven’t ordered another vivano either. They also get major points for customer service — so if you just avoid that type of drink this is a pretty good starbucks.

While in the professional centre the other day, I thought I would pop into this Starbucks for a java. This is one of the new Starbucks for me. It is situated on the corner and has a great atmosphere to it. I order a Café-Mocha, I am a sucker for chocolate. As much as I gripe for paying $ 4.00 for a small coffee. It does hit the spot, especially after walking outside for a bit. It was cold. The staff here seem to be having a great time. The girl who served me certainly enjoys her job. She was very energetic. Almost too much so, I was carrying around a headache that day. But I would rather a friendly upbeat experience every time, so all was good. The tables along the window were my favorite, I like to people watch. It was a great cup of Jo! Here is a funny, there were two women in there who asked how many calories were in the muffin. AAH, my experience is, if you are asking, odds are you should not eat it. The staff was kind enough to look it up, I think it was for the chocolate and the answer was 420 calories, I believe. No they did not buy it, lol
