I haven’t been to the Sears Outlet since it was officially known as the Bargain Basement. It has been several years, in fact. I’m on the hunt for a sleeper sofa, but am on a budget(aren’t we all) so figured i’d try here since a regular furniture store is pretty much out of the question. I located their furniture section fairly easily as just about everything is well signed. However, it seems they’ve tried to cram as much stuff into one small corner of the store. Move in and about the sofas and chairs was a challenge, particularly if you encountered other people wandering the same row as you. Of course I find I sofa I like, and then find the price tag, which I did not like quite as much. I think calling t his store an Outlet is a bit of a stretch. Maybe its just me but when I hear«outlet» I assume I’m getting great products and great prices. Heck, many of the sofas I looked at were clearly dirty. And the prices weren’t that great(I see now why they’re not called the Bargain Basement — not much in the way of a bargain to be found). The price tags on these pieces seemed to be regular sale prices, certainly not anything that would confirm you were in an outlet store. Long story short, my hunt continues. I had hoped the Sears Outlet would be the winner, but in this case it was not.

I often find that the label«outlet store» is a misnomer. What I usually find is a store which is practically indistinguishable from an regular retail space with prices not much better and sometimes not as good as a clearance sale. There may have been a day when outlet shopping provided your best price but now one has to be more discerning and adept at comparison pricing. Having said that, the Sears outlet store is a true outlet. Here one can find prices that are truly cut to incredible deals. Grant it, that sunshine yellow dress coat in plus sizes may not have been the wisest design choice but at $ 5 someone might find the perfect deal for their Easter ensemble. Racks of $ 2, $ 5 deals or prices further cut 40% or even 80% off the lowest ticket price make this great for the budget minded. Scratched and dented furniture and appliances or end of line stuff perfectly good and safe to use. It’s not too badly organized but you may have still to spend some time picking through racks and rows for what suits you but it can be well worth the time. Yes, the new lack of shopping carts makes it difficult, I’m not sure why that decision was made, the cashier said something about now having more space for deals. I brought my own in the person of my husband. More vocal that a cart in his complaints regarding the weight of his load, he did come in handy but for those without a living cart, I can see this being a game changer.

Over the years the Sears bargain store has changed about 100 times. Remembering when my mom used to drag me down the escalator’s from the main level to shop. Great deals are still to be had but are harder to find. Sometimes they have some great door crasher specials on furniture and even appliances which can save you some big bucks but make sure you like it as there is a no return policy. I will go over and check every now and then the shoes as this is a great place to find those one season shoe wear for a great price. Something I do feel that they can mark this stuff down more but that is just my opinion. Racks and racks of cloths from anything from pants, skirts, tops, jackets to men’s suits etc. You do have to take some time in this place but one good thing is that it is clean and organized making it an easier shop.

The Sears Outlet is our first place to hit when shopping for appliances, furniture — or basically anything! There’s always plenty of options available to chose from if you head there on a shopping spree. This past weekend, we were on the hunt for a sofa. Rows upon rows of sofas, davenports and sleeper sofas presented themselves for our viewing and testing. We plopped ourselves onto sofa after sofa, determining which one was most comfortable and which ones were out of the running. In the end, we settled on the perfect sofa — perfectly comfortable and perfectly priced. With delivery running around $ 55, we still came in comfortably under $ 500, which is a great deal on a sofa. We also walked around and checked out menswear and linens. The menswear department is always full to bursting of casual and khaki pants, all at prices about half to two-thirds off retail. Linens are a great buy here, with full-sized blankets as low as $ 15. One thing to remember: the Sears Outlet doesn’t accept returns, so be sure of your purchase before heading through the check-out.

Never mind being somewhat difficult to find(I walked around for 10 minutes before finally asking someone where to go), I was not pleased with my experience here. It would seem to me that all the merchandise they get is just thrown into a giant showroom. All the furniture was just packed into one room, but with no order to it whatsoever. Yes, the chairs and tables were on one side, with the couches on the other, but it was all very packed in and difficult to test ot inspect. I was also expecting the prices to be significantly cheaper than normal seeing how it is an outlet store, but I was wrong. The ‘mark downs’ were barely marked down. Pieces originally priced at $ 500 were being cut down to $ 400. Most things hardly seemed like good finds to me. Overall I was not pleased after leaving this Sears Outlet. I was hoping to go home with more than a cramp in my leg from walking around so much.

Sears Outlet use to be really good. However I do not go there as much. Mainly because you Can Not return anything. For me, that is a no no. I went in looking for some boots. Did not find anything, there is a great section of appliances. You can get some great deals on them.

Sears Outlet store offers everything you would find at a regular Sears store but at significantly reduced prices. While much of the stock may be last-season items, others may include returned items or slightly damaged goods. Sears Outlet offers a great selection of clothing, bedding and furniture and more, but be sure you love your purchase because unlike other Sears stores all sales at the Sears Outlet are final.
