Great donairs! Came here this evening with a monstrous donair craving, these guys are like 5 minutes away from me which is great! i wanted a medium donair as I wasn’t hungry enough for a large or XL. My total came to $ 7 which I guess is standard for a medium donair in a lot of places. I think the portion was perfect. It wasn’t more than I expected but it wasn’t a skimpy serving either. They’re sooo extremely generous with the sauce which I appreciate! I’ve encountered many donair shops in Halifax that are stingy on the sauce. There was also lots of onions and tomatoes on mine. The meat was really the highlight of the donair — it was spicy, thinly sliced and crispy. Yum! They have some pretty great lunch specials that are worth checking out, they had some pizza slices out when I picked my donair up and they looked really good.

Been a staple in our pizza munching days, when we lived like 2 mins away. I never found the food disappointing, their lunch specials were great for under 7 $, they were always great to us, my wife and daughter, and sadly when we moved. Lost contact, though a few times we still pop in for a slice or such. I notice the other reviews had issue with the quality, and service. I never had a bad experience there, maybe a dry slice now and then, but I have had worse quality elsewhere and service as well. I found they were always willing to chat and even entertain my daughter while we ate/took out food.

What can I tell you about rush hour? Well to start they make one fantastic donair. This is a family run business pizza shop/convenience store. The owner makes all of his donair meat from scratch & seasons it himself(as well as homemade beef jerky & most of the meats). I think this donair meat may be the key to their success, though I would recommend popping it in an oven or microwave for a bit more, because the one downfall of the rush hour donair is that it isn’t ever heated up enough. That being said I still say it is one of the donairs in the city. Aside from donairs rush hour also offers, donair egg rolls, donair rockets(similar to a pogo stick, but with donair meat), poutine, including a pulled pork variety, pizza & your typical pizza shop fare. They do deliver & if you are picking it up you can grab the rest of your snacks for a perfect movie night because this place is a convinece store as well.

Came into the shop at around 4 – 5, the ‘pizza shop’ is actually mostly a convenience store with a side of a pizza operation. I got a slice and I should’ve known better, but I was starving. The slice looked like it was sitting there for who know how long — like I said, starving. Both people working the counter too interested in their argument and the person on the phone to actually provide any decent service… sigh, oh well.

My experience with this location is limited, but it’s enough to say a few things. Food: Not bad, but there is certainly much better. Their pizza is a lot like something you’d buy frozen in the grocery store(such as Delissio) only skimpier on toppings. I was a little bummed out by my last pizza that I ordered from them. It was supposed to be pepperoni and hot peppers, but when it was delivered to me I found that there were only a few pieces of pepperoni and fewer hot peppers, but LOTS of cheese. Actually there was probably too much cheese for me. The pizza was decent enough and very eatable, but it didn’t feel like what I had ordered and the lack of toppings was a downer. I’ve never tried their donairs before, but I hear that you have to put the sauce on yourself which just seems lazy. The staff are very friendly and respectful, which is a definite plus for this place. They’ll also deliver groceries to you, since they are also a convenience store. That is pretty decent service. All in all though, I don’t think that their food is too exceptional. The service and staff are good, and delivery times are probably faster than average, but the quality of the food leaves a bit to be desired.

Rush Hour Pizza is that little hole-in-the-wall pizza spot that everyone knows. Really, though, they should be called Rush Hour Donairs because the donairs are the star in the menu. Sure, my boyfriend often opts for the poutine(which is stellar) and I like their subs, but the donairs are the main attraction. Rush Hour is run by a family and you can tell the dedication as soon as you enter the store. Family pictures are posted over the cash register and there’s usually two or three members of the family floating around the kitchen. There’s a counter installed along the front wall of the store, but I’ve never seen anyone eating there. There are two drawbacks to Rush Hour. One is that their pizza really isn’t all that great. I’ve had much better pizzas, to be honest. The second is there is a criminal lack of parking spaces — most often, you have to park on the side of Windsor Street and hope that someone doesn’t clip you coming through the intersection. A particular bonus is that Rush Hour has debit on delivery items — definitely a plus for people like me who rarely carry cash.
