It’s rare that I ever choose to just hang out at one of the local hotels, no matter what restaurant, bar, spa, or shop they have tucked away in their lobbies but last night I was so glad to give Eve a chance. With horrible weather outside, two of us arrived early for a Christmas party at Yuk Yuk’s in order to dry off and drink up as a bit of a pregame show. It’s a small and rather exposed space not far from the main Westin lobby but it’s not all that unappealing once you’re inside. Multiple options for seating from plus armchairs to high tops and stools mean you can find your own comfort level for the evening. This is definitely a plus that makes up for feeling like you’re drinking at a bar in a mall as everyone who walks by in the main hallway stares at you as they stroll through. Staff were very attentive, very professional, and at times very funny when given the chance to jump in on a conversation! I actually really dug the wine list. It didn’t have all of my favourite brands per se, but with a healthy number of options for both reds and whites, all at reasonable prices, it was nice to sit down for a glass without feeling like you’re getting gouged. The bartenders give a healthy pour too which is always appreciated! Eve won’t be a regular hang-out for me but knowing that they have nice wines and good service means I won’t be shy about pre-gaming before other Westin festivities in the future!

This is a semi-chic little lounge bar located in the Westin Hotel’s main floor. Bitty in size, the lights are dim, and the classic hotelier service follows suit within its setting. Perhaps a spot best fit for business men and low-key clientele to enjoy a nice scotch before carrying on, this isn’t the lounge to expand your horizons and punch on personality. Swanky-dory– sure. Priced for the expendable– of course. Eve is the quick stop-in for hotel guests to enjoy a nice glass in class. Those looking for a less than solitaire experience should hit up one of the many fine venues around the city.
