I want to love this place. Truly, I do. I was offered by the owner to come in and try again for free which was way more than I ever expected. Their customer service, atmosphere, prices and reward system are great. I love the décor and I love that I can get tea. But I just didn’t love my Brazilian.
I went back for two more appointments, but didn’t walk away smooth either time. I’ve never had this issue before. I’m not sure what the problem is, but for some reason I still walk away having to go home and pluck myself to death. Maybe the wax doesn’t agree with my hair type, I don’t know; but I’ll be going back to my previous salon for my Brazilians. They tried really hard to please me though, so I didn’t have the heart to give them anything but five stars. I couldn’t find a single thing otherwise to knock them on and I’d still recommend it to others. Maybe it’s just me. :/

I’ve been a patron of this cute little spa for over 10 years. But I took a little hiatus for a year and a half due to life being busy. Many staff changes in this time so I wouldn’t Unilocal my review until I went back.
So… I decided to treat myself and bought a couple of gift certificates at their last girlie girl gift gala (always a good time).
I’ve gone 4 times in the last two weeks and had a different aesthetician each time. 5 STAR SERVICE all around: Ashley, Andrea, and Candace! Lisa for massage!
I know Angela is amazing and it’s nice to know everyone else there follows her high standard :)
November and/​or December will offer their next gala sale — don’t miss it! And they have specials all the time and if you follow them on twitter you might catch a deal or opening for an appointment.
Treat Yo Self!

I don’t go to the spa as often as I would like but when I do I go to Remedy. They give the best full mani/​pedis, with the scrub and the massage it’s heaven. I’ve gotten shellac twice there and both times it’s lasted for so long, close to three weeks. Which is nuts. Hardly any chipping, my nails just grow and they start to look bad. So worth the money!
I’ve also been waxed (eyebrows, which looks amazing but sadly my skin is too sensitive and I end up breaking out down the road so no more eyebrow waxing for me) as well as other waxing which has gone perfectly — put me at ease, quick and as painless as possible.

This place is really great. The atmosphere is soothing and relaxing like a spa should be but it doesn’t feel overwhelming which I was worried about since I’m not a regular spa-​goer. It’s petite so you immediately feel comfortable there and not out of place and it hasn’t been crowded anytime I’ve been there.
I went here to get my first spa package before my cruise which included a pedicure, full leg and «down below» wax and lash tint. I was really satisfied with my experience here. I had Ashley who is a master esthetician and she did a wonderful job, my pedicure lasted for two solid months.
The only annoyance is the location because it’s downtown and parking is a pain. However, the excellent bar menu makes up for that!

Before my wedding I went to Remedy for a variety of waxing services. I explained what I wanted to the person on the phone and was very clear about negative experiences I had had in the past with waxing. I needed a little TLC, and I asked to be put with someone who would be a little extra sensitive to my needs. While the place of business was beautiful and I was treated well by the reception staff, I was not happy with the quality of the waxing service provided. The aesthetician used a variety of waxes on my skin, some of which left me red for days. The whole procedure, which I have had done before at other salons in half an hour, was excruciatingly painful and went on for almost an hour. In the end, the result was blotchy and required some extensive tweezing at home to even out. Furthermore, not enough time was booked for the services I had requested, even though I was clear about what I wanted from the get-​go. More communication, some empathy, and a consistent service are all areas that could use some improvement here.

Reasonable prices, and great staff. I go here for Brazilians, and waxing is half-​price on Wednesday. They also offer a student discount, reward dollars, and $ 5 off for every friend you refer! Mary is the best!

I started going to this spa as a student, mostly because they have a 10% off deal with a student card. That was three years ago, and I haven’t gone anywhere else since. The atmosphere is so comfortable and relaxing, the staff professional and so friendly. They make you feel at home, with a cup of tea to accompany whatever service you receive, not to mention creating a wonderful overall ambience. The aestheticians add personal touches, like a warm towel under your neck to relax after a facial, or extra massage during manicures and pedicures. The quality of the products used is excellent (LOVE Dermalogica and Jane Iredale… Have almost completely switched over all my products since first going to Remedy) and the services are top notch, within a very reasonable price range. Thanks, ladies of Remedy!

Coming from Toronto, I was looking for a place where I could get a regular mani/​pedi and waxing done for a reasonable price, however I didn’t find any places with the pricing I was looking for so I settled on Remedy Spa due to the rave reviews and cute interior.
Although there aren’t the regular massage seats with the feet sinks for pedicures that I’m used to seeing, Mary T. did a fantastic job on my pedicure and I did not feel hurried throughout my appointment. She spent a great deal of the time talking to me and making me really comfortable and definitely did not skimp out on the calf massage.
I also did waxing with her on a Wednesday and she got it done quick and relatively painless (for a brazilian) and was very professional as usual.
Needless to say both times I was left pretty satisfied with the good service and will probably make that my go to spa from now on.

Lovely products great to get your ho ho waxed and they do mens back wax too.

First of all how can you not have a good spa experience when there are cocktails involved? LOVE IT. We went there on the weekend for part of a bachelorette party, recovering from the night before this was just what the doctor ordered. There were 5 of us, and they were able to accomadate us all. We all got pedicures, and the bride got a mani and a pedi. My esthetician was Ashley she rocked! The other girls were amazing as well, we each had a great experience and the drinks were pretty darn good too! We brought in a veggie and fruit tray to nibble on while we got our services, but you could order in sushi or whatever else fancied your taste buds!
You can tell these ladies like their job, they had great chemistry with one another which added to the whole experience.
We loved the atmosphere and I would reccomend this spa for a girls night out, bachelorette parties, or just to pamper yourself!

I am a regular at Remedy Spa. My esthetician is Ashley Wittenberg and she is so wonderful! She is very knowledgeable, so helpful and amazing at her services, obvious that she loves what she does for a living. All of the Staff go above and beyond to make you feel great about yourself. On my birthday they greeted me at the door with well wishes, such a great feeling. I am also a firm believer in their product line Dermalogica. Go in even just for a consultation and try these products, amazing!

This place is great. Very friendly staff and a great masseuse.
I have been going here since September and I’ve always been treated well.
My only complaint would be that it’s so hard to book an appointment, especially if you’re looking for one that day.
Other than that I look forward to trying their facials someday!
Oh, and they also have a lot of great little promotions!

I feel compelled to remove a Remedy Spa star based on my experiences here in the last 6 months.
What with being a pretty big fan of this spa when it initially opened I was (evidently) one of the first people to end up on the spam list. I remember why I had initially forked over my contact details to RS and it was because they occasionally have open house events where you can try products and even receive free (micro session) services like paraffin treatments. Uhh, free spa services?! Show me the dotted line! Several months later I did however start to notice that I was receiving multiple promotional offers/​month in my email as well as being sent junk mail in snail mail version! Haughtily, I informed RS that I wanted to receive no more junk and yet somehow still receive the occasional email… At least the paper waste has stopped… I guess?
My second gripe with RS was over an encounter I had in late July. I even booked this 50% off wax session from Vancouver, weeks in advance… I was THAT pumped about being back to the land of reasonably priced lady services! Upon arriving, I had an extremely awkward conversation with my esthetician about what *type* of service I would be getting. Trying to cajole someone into ripping MORE hair from between your legs is, I assure you, uncomfortable even for an extrovert.
Perhaps you have had this happen before? Where you have been inadvertently booked into a smaller time window than your desired service will take? The real crux in all of this was that whomever I had booked with had not asked which service I wanted and what ultimately came to light was that my wax lady had NEVER DONE A FULL BIKINI WAX BEFORE. She was therefor too nervous to try on me (hey, me too once I found this out!) and I ended up paying for and leaving with a) not the service I had wanted and b) a rather crooked and sloppy job upon at home inspection. To be fair, we’ve all started new jobs before and I guess there’s no school for bikini waxing with faux hippy bush dummies to practice on but come on…
I hope my next experience at Remedy is more customer oriented! I will for sure be clarifying repeatedly in future which service I want as well as requesting a more experienced wax-​er.

I climbed the steps reluctantly. I’m always a little hesitant to go eye places that seem like nests, perched at the top of a slew of stairs. When I reached the tastefully designed landing, the smell of warm citrus was like a veil, calming me instantaneously and giving me the desire to be fully pampered.
I entered into the small space and was greeted by sunlight and shelves of properly placed products. The lady at the desk was on the tele, so I grabbed a pamphlet and perused the skin care goodies. While reaching for the price list, I noticed an assortment of alcohol bottles and martini glasses — I was wooed right then and there into wanting a Sex & the City moment to call my own.
The Farmhouse Fresh products looked sassy and sweet, with yummy smells and gorgeous packaging. There was a foot treatment called the Honey Heel Glaze, selling for $ 24, which looked like a lovely product. Remedy also carries OPI nail products and a variety of other soothing and rejuvenating luxury items to make your epidermis glow!
I loved the look and feel of this place and was glad I opted to head up the stairs to check this place out. The smell alone is enough to calm even the most wound-​up of souls, and should be a service in itself. I adore this Facial Bar and would love to have a treatment here.

Remedy Facial Bar & Spa is a fabulous little spot with an inventive twist to the traditional ‘spa experience’.
Not only do they offer a variety of facials for all skin types, but a ‘Self Serve’ option is provided as well. At $ 25 a pop and about 12 different self-​serve facials to pick from, this is a reasonably priced way to keep your skin in check. Treatments are individualized, so someone with acne issues would complete a different facial than someone with dry skin. And if you’re unsure about what skin type you are, no worries. They provide a questionnaire and brief skin analysis before getting started to direct you towards the best suited treatment.
While I’m not a frequent spa goer, Remedy is the spot I’ll go for my next beauty indulgence. Dermalogica Microzone treatments, Hydra medic acne treatments– they specialize in facial services and seem to delve deeper into the science of skin than other spas.
Besides facials, they offer regular spa activities like waxing, manicure/​pedicure, massage, body wraps, etc. However, the main draw seems to lie in skin care.
I’ll be look forward to my next visit, whenever that may be. The staff seems very informed and exudes expertise. Great services and some decent rates to boot.

I’ve only ever have great experiences at Remedy Spa. I first started going in 2004 when I heard about their half price waxing Wednesday. I don’t know if they still do this but it’s worth it to ask. Over a year ago they moved to Granville St near the MEC. The new place gets a lot more light and has great décor, including art by Michelle SaintOnge.
If you look at the first photo, you’ll see Katherine, the blond girl on the right. She is been a fabulous esthecian and has seen me through all kinds of treatments. I attended their grand opening after their move in fall ’08 and won the manicure and pedicure door prize. Katherine did my mani-​pedi and she was absolutely wonderful. If you are getting a facial, I would ask for her by name. My skin has never felt better.
Remedy sells the Dermologica line and if you sign up for their mailing list you can find out when they have discounts and sales. I’ve saved hundreds on the same products and services this way which really helps on a student budget.
What Remedy is especially known for is their facial bar where you can have a self-​serve facial party with your friends and enjoy martinis into the evening. I never did have one but I always thought it sounded fun.
