Decent flavours. But on the downside I got food poisoning and was on the can a few times afterwards. Not sure what the issue was, maybe foods weren’t kept at low enough temperature.

Maritime Lobster Shack is located inside the Halifax Seaport. Okay, I did not get the chance to eat their Lobster Roll. Arrived here to early so they were not quite ready yet. After exploring Halifax and Peggy’s Cove, we came back here! We were too late! They were already closed. Did not realize that the Halifax Seaport closed so early. I think that I would have really liked the Lobster Roll. I guarantee that the next time we are here I will not make the mistake of missing them again!

Don’t usually give five stars but this place is truly deserving of them. The staff are super friendly and they dot try to do a bunch of things. They do a lobster roll, with bacon for the breakfast special, that is heaven in Halifax. A must to do in Halifax.

Awesome addition to the what-do-I-want-for-lunch lineup at the Seaport Farmers Market. i really, really, like the lobster roll. The fresh baked bun is perfectly buttery, fluffy and delicious and it is packed with big junks of juicy lobster. The only downfall is that it’s small enough that it doesn’t fill you. It does come with a side(salad or potato chips) and a pickle from the Naked Pickle! I wish it came with both chips + salad. The potato salad and the quinoa salad are tasty! Although $ 12.00 for the lobster roll + side is an excellent deal — you will be left wanting more *tummy grumbles*

Living in Halifax for 2 years, I’ve been trying so hard to like lobster roll. However, it just kept disappointing me even at the best of the place. I think now my journey is finally coming to an end with the opening of this little shop inside Seaport Market. This is a new venture of the owner of the cornish pasty shop in the same building. I really loved her pasty, so I had full faith in what she was going to do with the maritime staple. As other reviewers said, the lobster chunks were huge and cooked perfectly. The mayo was just enough amount to give a flavor as opposed to overpowering it and spoiling the lobster. The buns were delightfully crisp and garlic butter really tied everything together. I ended up ordering half roll, but I will definitely go back there to order the real deal. $ 12 may be a little on pricey side, but I have never come across a lobster roll this good around here.

That we don’t have a lobster roll culture akin to that of Maine is a bit of a crime, especially when Atlantic Canada is more widely known as the oddity that has the McLobster at McDonald’s stores in the region. Luckily, some Nova Scotian entrepreneurs, including the Maritime Lobster Shack, have risen to the occasion to restore our seafood street cred, one delicious bun at a time. Located in the Seaport Farmer’s Market, the Lobster Shack is really a stand, albeit one painted to be shack-like. Although they do not abide by the international standards of shack-dom, they do make a fine lobster roll. On the hunt for lunch on a nice Sunday afternoon, I strolled over to the farmer’s market, picking my way through the throngs of locals and cruise ship tourists to the MLS table. They have quite possibly one of the most focused menus that you’ll ever find — half and full-sized lobster rolls, and fish chowder. Other than the sides that come with those, that’s it. If you’ve got $ 20, you can try their whole menu. Naturally, I went for their full sized lobster roll($ 12, taxes in), which comes dressed in their homemade mayo and in a fresh baked bun, with chips and slices of dill pickle from fellow market vendor Naked Pickle. There was a short wait while the New England-style bun was buttered and grilled in a sandwich press, but it would turn out to be well worth it. After I was handed my tray I sauntered back to work where I quickly dug in. The first thing you notice is the quality of the bun, as it’s larger than your run of the mill commercial hot dog bun, crisped up nicely in the press, and I’ll be damned if that wasn’t garlic butter on it. The chunks of lobster were lightly dressed and were fresh and cooked perfectly. There wasn’t quite as much lobster as I expected for a large, but there was at least the equivalent of a tail. Some bits of celery or green onion would have been nice for an additional pop of flavour and colour, but that might just be my tastes. The small handful of chips aren’t going to fill anyone up, but they did satiate my salt craving. The pickle spears are crunchy and had noticeable little bits of dill which made for a nice fresh flavour that was head and shoulders above store bought pickles or the likes of dill pickle chips. If you’re a lobster fan and in the neighbourhood of the market, you have to swing by and participate in the redemption of our lobster roll scene.

I’m gonna give a five star rating here because the lobster roll($ 12) was full of big chunks of lobster. Chunks large enough that you could identify what part of the shellfish they came from. The lobster was mixed to order with just a little mayo and stuffed in a home-style roll that was freshly toasted with butter. The buns must have been made locally and they were awesome. The lobster roll came with kettle style chips, a local dill pickle and a wedge of lemon. Friends had the seafood chowder with roll($ 8) and enjoyed their meal as well. You can find them on Facebook.
