Okay, so Hali Shawarma would be the McDonald’s of middle eastern cuisine.(Well, it is Syrian cuisine, to be exact). The food is express style takeout and delivery — hot and fresh foods made to order with little space or seating to dine in. The Hali Shawarma chef(who is also the owner) is a jolly man & is sweet as pie(very friendly and kind). I have been to Hali Shawarma a handful of times, and everytime the owner is very helpful with the food choices and decisions. Whenever I go I seem to order the same thing: shawarma platter($ 11.99) with a piece of knafeh for dessert(~$ 2.50)… Its not fancy, but it is the real deal when it comes to middle eastern food. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but it is a nice alternative to Tarek’s café every now and then. I would give Hali Shawarma 4 stars for the food, however, I will only be giving them 3 stars because their hours of operation are not consistent(leaving the customers guessing when they are open rather than actually knowing). Somedays they are open for lunch and others not. Some weekends they are open, and others not. Maybe in time the hours will be more consistent.
