H&R Block

The worst experience ever! As a student I went there to get my tax return done, the lady who was assisting me there did half of it and said she would do the rest later and call me when it is done! «Weird». She never called me! After a week, I called the office twice to get a hold of her, and finally after three days she said the government website was down and she would do my tax return when the government website is working! (How come the government website was down for a whole week in tax return season!) Guess what, she never did! I had to go there in person and make sure that my tax return was done properly, so on the third week I went to H&R block on lacewood and had to wait for a long time to see her, when I saw her, she said that it was done and she called me and I didn’t answer! I never had a missed call nor a voicemail from H&R block!
I went to the manager of the office, and told her the story, I said that I’d never go to H&R block again in my life to do my tax return, she just look at me and even didn’t say anything!
Bottom line DO NOT go there and waist your money!
PS, I paid $ 37 (tax included) as a student and SPC card is good for nothing, because it expires in a month! (not in a year)

Well, for the first time since moving out of my parents place I decided I would be a big girl and head to H&R block to get my taxes done myself.
I never thought I would have such an enjoyable experience after seeing all those tax pain commercials on TV. I walked in and was told that there would be an hour wait, fine I had errands to run anyway. I handed the clerk my t4’s and returned an hour later.
My tax consultant was Joan and let me just say she is one of the reasons I had such a great time! Wonderful! She called the CRA for me as I was unsure of my carry forward amounts from tuition and we got the information we needed to continue. Joan was friendly and courteous and carried on a conversation that lasted the entire time I was there. I will definitely seek her out next year.
I was refunded in full; which is not what I had expected at all. So now my bank account and wallet are happy campers!
There are a couple of options to get your money; an H&R debit card or checks– I opted for the checks, headed to the bank and now my refund sits happily in my account.
Students pay only $ 30, and receive a SPC card. So now, I can even get discounts while I shop with the extra money I didn’t think I would have!

The most wonderful time of the year: Tax Time! Oh the joys! I go to H&R Block due to my being totally lazy and unable to understand mathematical concepts like adding and subtracting. If you are not Mathematically challenged I’m sure you skip this place anyway and do your taxes yourself for free.
My Tax Professional Anne was, as always, awesome. She’s super dry and knows her stuff. If you’re doing taxes and going to H&R Block try to get in with her if you like dry and sarcastic humour to go along with your taxes.
My advice to people is such: Make.An.Effing.Appointment. Seriously. Everyone is trying to do their taxes, Why are you walking in and sitting for hours (we were told the people in the wait rooms were there for 3 hours plus) when you could just call from the comfort of your home and go right in and get your stuff done.
Have some consideration folks. They’re open until 10 but HAVE to stay until every single (non appointment having) person is dealt with. That’s simply unfair to the workers. It’s simple. Call and make an appointment. Seriously.
Please note: This review may have unjustified anger towards unknowing parties due to the fact I just totally lost on my roll up the rim to win cup. Damn you Tim Hortons!
