Welcome to OK Tire & Auto Service Halifax. My name is Bill Gray and I have been providing auto repair service in Halifax, Nova Scotia since 1992. Everything we do in our repair facility is aimed at establishing a trust-​based relationship with our customers that will last a lifetime. I took my vehicle here complaining of a rattle in the rear. They called me a few hours after dropping it off telling me that one of my struts had no fluid left in it. The estimate to replace was both rear struts was $ 1050 + tax. Thinking that seemed high, I told them I’d call them back. I called Napa to find out the cost of the strut, which they didn’t carry. So I called the local dealer. The struts were $ 150 each. So I called grays back and asked them how much they were charging me for labour. they told me $ 80 an hour for 1.8 hours. Obviously the math doesn’t add up. I questioned them and they told me they’d call me back. When they called back they told me that they had priced aftermarket shocks that were high quality and had a lifetime warranty. They told me that they had called around to their normal suppliers and couldn’t find the part so this was their only option. (They called a dealer in Dartmouth who supposedly told them the part was on backorder). So then they told me they could do it for $ 600. Even if their story was true. they should have known $ 1000 + is outrageous for two shocks and advised me on the phone the first time on why it was so expensive. I ended up doing the work myself for the cost of the struts. $ 340 tax in. I will never ever ever go to grays auto again nor will I advise anyone to take their business here. Please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

I just completed the purchase of my 4th set of tires from this OK Tire outlet. I’ve never had a bad experience dealing with these guys. A very friendly team at the counter and in the shop. I payed for an alignment on my car as I had invested over $ 1000 in my newest set of tires. The technician really took his time and explained everything to me as he did the alignment. I feel very confident dealing with this shop and would recommend them to anyone looking for a new set of tires.

Great service! Went in for the inspection and they were great showed us exactly what needed to be done and why. They did it right then and there, only charging us for a half hour of labour and parts. Nice ladies up front too. Will go back for sure.

I have taken my car here twice for a quote on some repairs I needed done and each time I ended up taking my car to another shop because of the outrageous price Gray’s quoted. AND, each time the other mechanics said I didn’t need as much work done as they had said at Gray’s. Save your hard-​earned money and go to another garage.

Gray’s is primarily a tire place (an OK Tire franchise) but is really a full service mechanic’s shop as well. I dealt with them this winter to get new tires for one of my cars, and a set of tires I got from my own mechanic mounted on my other car. They’re friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.
After I got new tires, I smacked a pothole pretty hard (gotta love Nova Scotia roads by the end of winter) and snapped a belt in one of my new tires. I took it back to them, and while the road hazard warranty I got wasn’t a help sadly, they offered me a replacement tire for a great price, ordered it in for me and put it on the next day.
They also got me some very competitive quotes for some work I needed done, but «I have a guy», and they couldn’t beat him — if ever he’s too busy though I’d certainly give them a chance.
They offer a discount for DND employees, and they also have an arrangement with CANEX to finance tires under the CANEX plan, which is a pretty good deal for those in uniform.
