Daniels Tailors

I’ve gone to Daniel’s a couple of times. The first time, I could not believe how rude he was to me. I was treated like an object, and not a valued customer. It also took a very long time for them to complete a hemming. I decided to give them a second chance, and went back– but nope! Just as rude, and just as long. Their prices are higher than other tailors, too. I took my business elsewhere, and finally got the fair service and prices I wanted.

I went to drop off my snowboard pants, as I ripped them in the crotch, probably about 3 inches long… I hesitantly handed them over as he said it would cost $ 23 to fix… Knowing that it only costs me $ 12 to get my pants hemmed which I believe is much more work… He said it was because they had a liner… but I have gotten pants hemmed that had liners too… So, I walked around the mall and decided to go back and tell him I change my mind.
He asked why, I said «because I dont want to pay $ 20»
He said «well how much do you want to pay»
I said «No more than $ 10»
He said «how about 12», at this point I was a bit bothered to find out that he was obviously over charging me in the first place and said «how about 10» staring him straight in the eyes…
he went on about how he pays his workers and he wouldnt even break even and got a little edgy. So I said no thanks and went across the street to Lianne’s on Dresden in the mall by Pete’s and she’s doing them for $ 7… I know where I’ll be taking my business from now on :)

This is not my usual tailor, but I needed a pair of pants hemmed the same day (and on a Saturday).
I called to ask if it was possible, and was assured it would be easy.
They made the measurements, and when I asked when I should come back, the tailor replied, «do you mind sticking around the mall for a few minutes?»
I had to clarify with him: «Are you telling me you can do these while I wait?»
I was floored. As it happened, I had to run another errand and told him I’d be back in 30 minutes.
When I arrived back 30 minutes later, there were my pants – done and waiting for me on the counter.
$ 11.50 and 30 minutes later, my pant crisis is resolved! Suffice to say I’ll be back.

Was in town for a wedding followed by a week of work followed by a second wedding back in my home town. Work was in Park Lane mall. I took my very expensive satin dress which had a few wine stains from the previous weekend to Daniel’s as it was so convenient and had such good feedback. i dropped it off on a Tuesday and he gave me a Friday AM pick up time. When I went to pick up my dress the wine stains were gone but the entire front of the dress had stains that were either missed entirely or were water stains added after the fact. He said he would try and contact the actual cleaning house to see if they could fix it and for me to come round at noon. When I got there he told me that there would not have been a fast enough turn around time to get it re-​cleaned so he didn’t bother. Meanwhile, he had my number and could have called me and saved me the trouble of excusing myself from my client twice to go to his shop but he didn’t. Additionally, I had asked for a loose button on the dress to be sewn and that had not been done. So, stupid me, I paid but at the last second he said,“I won’t charge you for the button”. I just should have grabbed my dress and bolted out of the store but instead I paid 28 $ for shitty service. Not impressed.

I would highly, highly recommend Daniel’s Tailor Shop. Mr. Daniel is the utmost professional and kind soul. Very, very easy going and solid advice. My pants simply could not be taken out as my previous tailor in San Francisco had cut the fabric, therefore ruining the pants for any future alteration. I wound up buying a new pair of pants from Mr. Daniel’s brother Raad at Suitor Clothing Company and he, as his brother, was very professional and made it possible for me to attend a wedding looking sharp!

I have used Daniel’s Tailor Shop a few times during the past year.
On each occasion, I have been met with a smile, a reasonable guideline as to how long each item would take to complete and a fair price. I have been satisfied with all of the work, as well as the friendly customer service. I would feel confidant to recommend Daniel’s to the closest of friends.

Had just purchased a new suit, and as always, the pant legs were too long.
I was in a hurry on my way out of town and needed them done quickly. I phoned a number of places; but they couldn’t have them done on time, or couldn’t confirm they would.
I phoned Daniel’s he said to drop by and he’d have them hemmed in ten minutes.
Dropped in; got fitted; mall-​crawled and got on the road on time.
All my tailor needs are now going to Daniel’s. Great Service!

I’ve been using Daniel’s for a little over a year for dry cleaning — nothing much, usually a couple of pieces a month. I recently took some stuff in for alterations, and not surprisingly, the service was great.
I recently had a bottle of hot sauce explode on a $ 300 shirt and took it in immediately. It came back very stained and unwearable, and — now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve always thought highly of the owner, but this time he just looked at the shirt, and put another tag on it and went on and called the cleaning company he uses and sent it to the attention of «the best guy there» free of charge, because he thought they might be able to do a better job. I went to pick it up a week later and it looked like new.
He’s a pretty reserved guy, but this made it clear to me that he really appreciates his customers’ business and cares about his reputation for quality. After that, I wouldn’t care if he charged $ 20 a shirt, I’d never take my business anywhere else. It’s so hard to find a business with that kind of volume that still takes the time to treat each customer like an individual and make sure they leave happy.
If anyone reading this is considering giving Daniel’s a review of anything less than perfect, I urge you to address him with your concerns — I’m sure he’ll do right by you if you give him the chance.

I recently lost some weight and wanted to have some things altered to fit my new size so I went to Daniel’s with two pairs of pants and a dress to be taken in. They were very patient with me and made very good suggestions on what could and couldn’t actually be done.
It was very expensive ($ 160!) but worth it so I can now wear these clothes again and they are more flattering.

I don’t always agree with all of the Best Ofs in The Coast, but Daniel’s Tailoring Shop is a well-​deserved long-​standing winner of the tailoring category. I’m actually a little bit shocked that it hadn’t been reviewed yet when I dropped off a couple pairs of pants the other day! It’s a small shop on the upper level of Park Lane Mall found from the main entrance by hopping on the escalators or stairs off to the right –it’s in the main hallway.
The head tailor here has been my go-​to for alterations on any piece of clothing that I just can’t have messed up. Typically, this means hemming pricy denims down to my Smurf-​life height without having to worry about them coming back too long, too short, or looking like I hemmed them myself. For an extra cost ($ 20 rather than the normal $ 8 for a hem), they’ll do a euro hem which makes the bottom of your jeans look professionally finished rather than just folded up and shortened. Definitely worth it if you’ve invested in a great pair to start with. Not only that, but the tailor actually cares about the work he’s doing. He’ll take your measurements as per usual, but he’ll also ask about the shoes you wear, how you stand regularly, whether you like them to run long, etc. Even for a simple hemming, Daniel’s makes sure that it’s done to suit you specifically.
On Saturdays, appointments can be made for consultations on more complicated jobs which I haven’t done before, but I have witnessed the change in my friends’ wardrobes after getting run through this shop. I can’t wait to bring in some okay-​fitting stuff and leave with perfection!
