We stopped into the Cellar Bar And Grill after a friend recommended it to us. After some slow service and a good, but not earth shattering meal, I’m not really sure what he was so impressed by. The place wasn’t that busy when we arrived, but it took a while for anyone to serve us. I ordered the Grilled Chicken and Sun Dried Tomato pasta. When it finally arrived it was pretty good, but not necessarily worth the wait. For desert we split a brownie and I must say it was delicious. The Cellar Bar & Grill could be really great and maybe some nights it is. Certainly it earned a solid recommendation from some friends of mine, but I just wasn’t feeling it on this night. I might try it again(or its other location in Bedford) and if I do I will let you know if it’s better or worse. For now it’s just ok.

I’m sort of surprised that Cellar Bar & Grill hasn’t taken a page out of Curry Village’s book and hightailed it outa this neighbourhood. With a rather large development taking a few years to build right next door(literally there’s a 30′ drop right outside this restaurants front door) you gotta wonder why they didn’t decide to relocate. Especially in light of all of the empty store fronts in Halifax these days… The Cellar Bar and Grill has been in this particular location for over 20 years. You can glean this information from the décor as well as the somewhat unimaginative menu. Overall, large selection with a lot of pasta and pizza. This place might be for you if you prefer mild falvour(nothing very ‘ethnic’ on the menu) and a lounge environment.
