Ca-r-ma Cat Rescue Maritimes, Halifax Chapter

I first came across this organization at one of their mall displays in the halifax shopping centre. They had a friendly orange cat and lots of friendly volunteers to greet people. We bought two cupcakes from their bake sale fundraiser.
Later when we had decided to adopt a cat, we thought of the cat rescue. We got in touch, explained our situation, and the organizers were able to find us an adorable, friendly kitty named Cosmos.
What I really like about the organization is that they use foster homes instead of shelters. Obviously none of the cats are ever put down for lack of adoption, and they are all spayed/​neutered, given shots, and tested for diseases and worms — all with volunteers. They also feed colonies of feral cats, and have a trap-​neuter-​return program for ferals.
In fact, we liked them so much we’ve started volunteering ourselves.
