Your average breakfast resturant nothing special, the service was good. I would return

It’s a pretty chill place. The staff are friendly, the food is good and there are power outlets to plug your phone in with complmentry wifi.

5 star seafood restaurant. We all love the lobster dinner here with Clam Chowder, butter lobster and salads. Will come back

Nice service but for breakfast they served us a fruit bowl that was primarily melon and that was soaked in sodium benzoate. Gross and a window into their approach to food quality. The rest of the food was pretty mediocre though well priced.

A good family spot. The lobster roll was great– big, and really tasty, but different than most. Kids food came out fast(thank goodness!) and service was friendly and fast.

Ordered lobster egg Benedict, wasn’t impressed with it. The egg and the hollandaise sauce overpowered the lobster. Felt like I was munching on a gum. The pancakes were certainly better than Cora’s

Bridgette had pancakes with bacon. Delicious! At home(in New York) an order of pancakes is typically three, but at this diner you get four(4) big, fluffy pancakes! You won’t leave hungry! I had a ham & cheese omelette(made with three eggs) with whole wheat toast. Also delicious! The toast was thick, soft, and buttery. The restaurant is clean. Not too noisy despite the crowd. They seem to be very popular for breakfast so expect to wait 15 – 20 minutes on the weekend. Excellent service. Extremely friendly staff. Tasty food! :-) BONUS: Free WiFi

Great value for breakfast. And delicious too. Friendly staff and meticulously clean. Check it out if you’re bored of the standard hotel buffet.

Went here at about 8:30−9 in the morning for breakfast, with my sister. She ordered tea, I ordered coffee. The coffee was really good, I have a personal problem with some coffees, glad this wasn’t one of them. We both got the ham eggs benedict, hold the salad(because not really feeling a salad for breakfast). I asked for my eggs hard, and she asked for her eggs medium soft, which we both received proper, she also got a side of cinnamon toast which we shared. It was delicious and simple, the hash browns were the best part, slight crunch on the outside soft on the inside, I don’t know how you can make a potato so flavorful yet still make it taste like a potato. I’ve never really tried hollandaise sauce but this stuff was good. The cinnamon toast was also good. Portions were worth the money I would say and the toast was nice and thick. The service was great and the wait times weren’t bad at all, but it wasn’t that busy anyway. The only thing I didn’t like(and the reason for the 4⁄5) was the décor/atmosphere/bathrooms. The atmosphere was dark, especially for a place that serves breakfast all day, so it made me feel a little tired. The booths were okay, the décor was kind of confused, «is it a sports bar or a diner?». And the bathrooms REALLY needed an update, just even for functionality purposes. Two stalls, both tiny, you have to stand over the toilet to close the door. And the sink had an old«eco» faucet where you had to hold down the release valve with one hand to wash the other, where if you took your hand off the water would stop flowing. Making it take much longer to wash your hands and also defeating the purpose by making you touch the faucet with a dirty hand to wash one hand and then having to switch, holding the dirty valve with your clean hand to wash the dirty hand. And the lighting in the bathroom was yellow and dark, making it look very dreary. I would go there again though.

Close your eyes and imagine a Halifax diner. Bam. Inside your mind’s eye is the Bluenose II Restaurant. I guarantee it. Deep booths, plastic menus and lovely ladies constantly topping up your water and coffee. Yep, it’s a quintessential diner. The menu has all day breakfasts, fish stuffs and liver. Liver? Yes. Not sure who orders it, but it’s available. I started with the potato skins, and they were thin, crispy and coated in cheddar, just like they should be. I then had the the grilled cheese and chowder. The grilled cheese was as expected, but the chowder was a bit fishy. To be fair, it is a diner, but being in Halifax I just expected something a little less can-tasting. All in all, a great experience.

We decided to grab breakfast here one morning after spending the night at the Marriott across the street. It was fairly busy when we walked in, but we were seated right away. I think we arrived at the perfect time as people began filing through the door shortly after we were seated. Upon sitting down, we waited and waited and then waited some more. No one came by to give us a menu, offer us drinks, or acknowledge our presence whatsoever. We sat about 15 mins before the man behind the counter directed a server who had been standing around doing nothing to bring us place mats and menus and offer us a drink. She took our drink order, then proceeded to not get said drinks and stood around doing nothing behind the counter once again. Another ten minutes pass and a different server brought our drinks and took our orders. Then, we wait some more. And some more. About an hour after being seated our breakfast arrived. Both of our orders were wrong. I ordered the spinach benny, but was brought a tomato benny. This seemed odd to me, as it is not even a menu option. My fiancé ordered white toast and received wheat, and also ordered extra bacon instead of ham. His plate arrived with ham actually being the predominant meat. We were hungry and also had to get back to the hotel to check out, so we did not say anything. The food itself was not bad. The hollandaise wasn’t great, but I liked that the benny came with salad. We won’t be back due to poor service.

It’s surprising that in a combined decade living in Halifax, I had never tried this place, but I guess it looked too«average» for me to be drawn in exactly, and no one had ever suggested it when deciding on a place. This past Friday for lunch(a sunny but chilly early fall day), a friend was visiting from out of town and I was at work. We wanted to find somewhere easy for her to find when getting off the bus, close to my work, that had breakfast(which she had been craving for a couple of days). So this spot came to mind and we decided to check it out. Arriving at 1pm, it was quite busy with a few people ahead of us in line at the door to get a table. Luckily, it didn’t take two minutes for us to get one. The place itself isn’t that large, I am guessing 20 tables or so all in one simple square restaurant. Casual but nice atmosphere with lots of natural light coming in the windows on the north side, since it’s a corner unit on the main level of a bigger building. By the time we finished, there was just as long a line, if not longer. I mentioned it, and was told that a cruise ship had just docked and that this restaurant has a strong reputation amongst the senior tourists? LOL Whatever, it works for them! I ordered the veggie omelet and it was quite good, and quite filling. I eat in a certain order where I start with the item that would get coldest the fastest, or not taste as good as leftovers. So finished my two thick slices of whole wheat buttered toast before delving into the good-sized omelet. I barely touched my home fries, although they were very good. This is partly due to simply being full and not wanting to return to my desk job feeling like death, but also being on Weight Watchers, I wanted to save them for a later meal, and did. The other in my party ordered the salmon eggs benedict with a side garden salad, which was good but she was unable to finish as well(generally a very light eater). The server was friendly enough and patient with a few different requests/questions we had. Although, because it was so busy, it took us a bit of time to receive our bill, so I went up to pay at the counter on my own, where the staff member there was quite friendly and funny. Next visit: a cold Monday for lunch to help ease a hangover. :) Arrived at 11:45 to avoid a potential wait to get a table, but the place was mostly empty, maybe because of the nippy wind that day, nobody wanted to leave their offices. The spinach & tomato eggs benedict was very good, with my only complaint being that tomatoes make things cold with their juice(hence why I never order tomato on take-out items, I know by the time I get home, the other ingredients will be cold & soggy). It wasn’t too bad in this case, since I obviously was served the plate immediately, but the egg & English muffin weren’t hot due to the tomato. Very good home fries again, with the option of having a half garden salad instead of all home fries, which I did. I was definitely full afterwards, but it helped to soothe the dehydrated belly a bit. Third visit: a sunny March Wednesday for lunch. Surprisingly, the place was mostly empty this time. Very good home made veggie burger with fries(lettuce, tomato, pickle, fried onion). The patty is very soft and flavorful but not as messy as some other home made ones I’ve had elsewhere. Would I go back? For sure, maybe on a weekend or something, when someone else suggests a big breakfast.

I’ve only ever eaten breakfast here but it’s about the only place I go for breakfast downtown. Food is good, location is good and the staff are friendly. I think this location will be closing soon but there is a new location in the CGI building by Bayers Rd. shopping centre. i frequently use this place if I’m meeting someone for work for breakfast as it’s very easy to leave there and be at the office quickly. Will miss the location when it’s gone.

Wanted to give my Baba a true taste of Halifax cuisine, and not ridiculous prices. Took to Unilocal to help us out. And as always Unilocal didn’t leave us astray! First: service was excellent Second: price was very good Third: portions were large Some may find the décor a little dated but I feel it added to the atmosphere. It’s not fancy by any means but it’s like a local diner that serves excellent seafood! Nice to see they serve Jost as their red and white wines!!! Thank you for supporting the local wineries! If you haven’t been and want good food at a good price you need to go here! Bluenose 2!

highly over pricd for what you get. I get a chicken Alfredo. It came with garlic bread and salad. First issue, the salad was practicaly covered with the pasta and what wasnt had the hot garlic bread ontop. So the salad was really warm and wilted. Within 5 minutes the sauce in the pasta turned to a VERY thick paste and chalky. the glass of house wine was $ 7. The waitress was nice, but thats as good as it gets.

I had a delicious breakfast here that I would love to go back for. The toast was thick, soft and buttery. The ham was tasty and the eggs were cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a good breakfast place downtown you will enjoy eating here. They menu items are just typical breakfast items but it satisfies a classic breakfast craving when you have one.

Eggs benny were great. The home fries were too big, actually they were all different sizes, it looked like a blind person cut them. The smaller ones were crispy and had great flavour to crunch ratio. The large ones were almost raw. They serve a salad with the eggs which seems silly. Who eats a salad for breakfast? I must say though, the hollandaise sauce was bang on! Made the whole meal. Which I would have told the server had she once came to check on us. Lol

Over the years I’ve heard not-so-great stories about this restaurant, so I’ve never bothered checking it out, until this morning. Struggling to decide where to go for a fairly quick but a non-fast-food type breakfast, I remembered walking by here each morning on my way to work and offered it up as a suggestion, it was a winner. We sat ourselves and quickly received our menus and our drinks; one small glass of apple juice and one small glass of orange juice at a whopping $ 2.50+ a glass: YIKES! But, that is to be expected when dining out. We both ordered the traditional eggs Benedict(ham) which came with a side of home fries and a salad… really? I’ve never had a salad for breakfast, but, to each their own. Their meal prices were pretty reasonable which made the outrageous juice price seem fine. The eggs Benedict were divine! The hollandaise sauce was perfect(although I could have gone for a bit more on my plate) the home fries were good, but not consistent — some were a good size, for home fries, but some where literally half of a potato and undercooked. Once we received our food, which was fairly fast, we were never checked on again — until we finished our meals. We both wanted another drink and some extra hollandaise, oh well I guess. A delicious breakfast for two with mediocre service for $ 33.00, with tip, ain’t so bad.

While fine for what it is, basically a diner which I, being from NJ, do know a thing or two about. Service was polite, but the food was very slow in coming out of the kitchen. The lobster platter was just ok, small, a bit stringy… nothing like what we munched on in Portland. The lobster roll… paled in comparison to anything else we had. Onion rings were frozen, but crunchy and good. There’s plenty of other options in this great city. But, in a pinch, it’ll do.

I’m a huge advocate for trying new places in halifax. The other day, my friends & I decided to hit up this restaurant before going to see our show. We walked in and the place looked a lot better then I expected it to be. Clean, nice-smelling with friendly staff. We sat at a booth and the waitress took our order, she was extremely nice even though we were asking her a lot of questions and trying to divide platters amongst us. I ordered the mussels an split a caesar with one of my friends. The mussels were good but the caesar was… gross. I can’t put my finger on it though. I guess it was a combination of the lettuce being soggy an the dressing being off in taste. The mussels came with fries but they weren’t very appealing either. Probably mccain frozen fries. I guess overall when I think back to my experience, there’s nothing special to bring me back here.
