ALTcetera is the«restaurant» at the new ALT Hotel at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Now, «restaurant» isn’t exactly what it is — it’s a grab-and-go type of place but it also has a full bar, hot and cold food, a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options as well as seating areas. Sounds interesting, right? That’s what I thought so when we were out there for a meeting myself and a few co-workers decided to check it out. The first thing you notice when you walk in is that it’s a large area with lots of seating, at the bar or tables, and there’s 2 large coolers on one side, with a «hot station» on the back wall. All the food, which is prepared by Kitchen Door Catering, is in the coolers. Everything is fresh, home-made, mostly local and delicious. ALT also ensures that they switch it up fairly regularly to keep customers happy and well-fed. The beet salad is AMAZING, with homemade dressing and lots of local delicious veggies. My co-worker confirms that the breakfast sandwich(which you can heat or have cold) was one of the best he’s ever had. My spring salad was also amazing — fresh made balsamic dressing, crunchy greens, lots of feta and tons of blueberries. YUM! I haven’t utilized the bar yet(come on guys we were working!) but I chatted with the hotel Manager, Mark, and he tells me that everything they serve has been tested and approved by staff. Apparently, they did a craft beer testing tour to decide what brands were in and what were out. Awesome? I think so. I’ve been to ALTcetera three times in the past month and I have to say that if you’re ever out at the airport and looking for a quick bite, or something tasty, well-priced and fresh — this is the place to go. It’s fantastic!
