Three Spa

My sweetie and I absolutely adore Three Salon and Spa in downtown Guelph! We have been going there for almost a year, after an arduous hunt for a great local haircut place. I will break down my review by services we’ve tried (all of which were great), as well as by the space.
Space: It’s gorgeous in here! Roomy, light, bright, modern, pampering, yet not pretentious or intimidating in the least. The front door opens to the juice/​smoothie bar, make-​up area, and main area for hair washes/​cuts/​styling. Go up a few steps (or enter from the back door if you cannot do stairs) to the middle and you’ll find mani/​pedi stations, private massage/​waxing rooms, and the men’s grooming area. The men’s themed area is just as awesome as the front. There are two pedi chairs/​tubs done in leather that look like old barber chairs. There is a billiard table, another private massage/​waxing area, and a hair wash/​cut/​style and shave space. This is the place to have a great pampering bachelor party back here, or to get yourself in good shape for a night out with the guys!
Ok, on to the services we’ve tried!
Juice and Smoothie Bar: Yum! Fresh friends and veggies become your delicious friends in creative and delicious combinations. I had never tried a green juice before, in spite of being a vegetarian, but we love The Hulk! We’ve also had all fruit juices and smoothies here and they are great.
Cosmetics and Hair Products: I don’t wear much of any make-​up, so I haven’t tried their make overs. However, I have bought some lip, skin, and hair products and been pleased. They sell a lot of cruelty free and vegan products here, including nail polishes!
Hair cuts and styles: I’ve gotten many hair cuts from Jason and have always been very, very pleased. He does a great job and is a pleasure to get a cut from. And my goodness can he do a great scalp rub during the wash! Ahhhhh, so good. He is great at recommending products when asked but I have never, ever felt pushed or pestered about buying them. I really appreciate that.
Beard trims: My sweetie sees Jason for regular beard trims and I can verify that Jason does a great job keeping him trim and handsome. He can also make quick work of any nose or ear hairs, not that my sweetie ever has those.
Eyebrow waxing: I see Veronica for my brows. I have never been to someone who takes brow waxing and shaping so seriously; it is her art and she is amazing. She uses softer wax on me (bikini wax, I think she said) because my skin can rarely tolerate being waxed, and it’s perfect. This is not a 5 minute quickie wax — she does excellent work and that means it take a few extra minutes. It’s well worth it — you will look amazing and she will respect your preferred brow shape. Plus she is SO FUN to talk with!
Pedicures: My sweetie and I get monthly pedicures here together, complete with yummy juices, and its seriously the best date activity ever. We get ‘em in the middle area instead of the men’s area so we can stretch out on the luscious cushions. Ok, straight up, listen to my advice here. This is where you want to get a pedicure because they use gorgeous marble foot tubs that do not recycle the water with jets. Foot tub jets are very hard to actually clean between customers and I’ve never been to a place that cleaned the jets between customers. That is why you want a place like this. They keep it clean and sanitary while being beautiful and pampering. So, you’ll arrive to a hot foot tub all sparkly clean with lovely flower petals floating there. Gorgeous! Climb up into the cushions and pillows and relax, because you’re going to feel great! They have lots of polish colors, including cruelty free options. Veronica and the other staff do an amazing job!
Manicures: Gorgeous nails! They also have the nail shellacs. Enjoy their cruelty free polishes and the great work.
Massages: Delightful! We all got massages and pedis here for my sweetie’s birthday this past year and we all enjoyed them. They had male and female massage therapists, so just ask for your preference if you have one. Sometimes they even give free hand massages during hair cuts!
Mary works up front. Be sure to mention if you are the University, as there is a discount for folks there! Mary is really wonderful, too. :D
Ok, if you’re not sold on Three yet then I’m not sure what else you’re looking for in a salon! This place is amazing and a well chosen investment in looking and feeling great. Book your appointment and give them a try!
Notes on handicapped accessibility: This is in an older downtown building, so it has the same navigational considerations as many others in the area. Restrooms are down a flight of stairs and there is a threshold step in front.

Three is a terrific place for men to get the spa treatment. They have an exclusive area just for men, so anyone who is shy or timid about receiving manicures and pedicures doesn’t have to worry. Veronica and Iris are both great aestheticians and know exactly how to make you feel comfortable, and relax. They all have a juice and coffee bar and while you are getting your mani/​pedi they’ll make you an Americano, espresso or juice.
Love this place, can’t say enough about it. Mary, the owner is a great personality and always there to make sure everything goes well.
