McCabe’s Irish Pub & Grill

I’ve been here a few times now and it has always been good. The food has always been top notch. The service has always been good. Recently I was in and had the chicken wings, They were fantastic. The suicide sauce was awesome. They said its made in house with fresh ingredients, by one of the women that works there. Impressive. The waitress was pretty funny when I ordered the suicide wings. She warned me several times that they are «HOT» and not a joke, almost trying to talk me outta of it because she has had countless people send them back because they are too hot. Well I’m glad I insisted to try them, They were great. I’ll be back for sure

Nice place offering nothing but beer and TV. AS I come here quite often, I can tell that this place has much higher potential, but it is typical pub benefiting only from its location and UOG students’ demand for beer. I can not recommend any of their food. What I can recommend is to order another pitcher right away when you get one, otherwise you going to «dry out».

Quality of burger appears to have gone downhill.!Could be a kitchen off night as orders seemed to be have been botched more than once for the two women in front of me. Otherwise nice pub with some good brews.
Previous visits have been good, but the service was really off tonite,
I will try the New Burger joint next time, just down the street.

I dropped by for my favorite, wings! They have a great selection of flavors and the best deal on food in Ontario. In the afternoon, the wings are 36 cents each. With a multitude of flavors to choose from, they are among the best.
I have tried other meals there, which are good but not exeptional. The restaurant is on a popular corner in Guelph and has garage door type windows which are wide open in the nice weather. An excellent dining atmosphere.

For our usual boys night, a friend of mine decided that we head to Guelph since we always head to bars in Toronto. Well of course it had to be one of the worst nights to drive an hour away. Torrential downpour, lightning and winds howling. As a result, we got a parking spot in front of the bar. PERFECT.
So the bar has an interesting set up with booths close to the window, tables in the middle and smaller tables the next level up and a set of tables up another set of stairs. Go on their website and see what I’m talking about. There are about 6 TVs all around the bar with one large projection screen on the far wall. Of course they were playing music when the game was on. I HATE when bars to that. It must’ve been run by women. LOL.
So the waitresses are lined up in your typical school girl outfits with kilts, some shirt with the McCabe’s logo. Thank God the place wasn’t lined up with Bryan McCabe memorabilia. HAHA!!!
We all ordered a platter which consisted of fried pickles, wings and potato skins and an order of nachos. The wings were small, didn’t touch the fried pickles, and the potato skins were ok. The nachos had some pieces that were kind of burnt but still wasn’t bad. The beers kept on flowing and of course the shots of tequila for me since I’m leaving for Edmonton in a week’s time.
It’s not a bad place. Of course Guelph is a small, university town with a few bars in and around the area. Not bad for them but for me, it’s just A-​OK!
