History

Established in 1994.

The original owners of the restaurant helped introduce downtown Guelph to «casual fine dining» and cooking meals to order using only fresh ingredients. They were forced to close Babelfish briefly in the summer of 1997. A few months later, in the fall of 1997 two former employees reopened the bistro. They parted ways in the winter of 1998 and the third set of owners took over in June of 1999. Chef Scott Gosselink and Maitre ‘d Rich Brown successfully ran Babelfish Bistro together for more than 10 years. Scott left the restaurant in the spring of 2010 to follow other pursuits. Sous Chef for the last 6 years, Nick Bowie has since taken over as Executive Chef. Rich and his team strive to create memorable dining experiences for all as they move Babelfish Bistro into this next decade.
